Magpul PTS Version Ranger Plate?
« on: October 23, 2010, 10:06:32 PM »
Does anybody know if these will work with mid-cap magazines? Online They state that they are for high-cap because they have slits for the winding wheel. Does anybody have any experience with them.

Ok so I've done a little more research but haven't found out to much but what I think I found out was that they come with base plates for either mid caps or high caps still allowing an opening for the winding wheel.

Please let me know if u know anything else. Thankyou very much.

From ASGI

Description:
Magpul has made an excellent reputation for themselves with their wide range of accessories and parts for real steel firearms. They are one of the first manufacturers that has embraced Airsoft as an acceptable form of training and simulation for real world simulation. Recently they have embarked on their own line of Airsoft accessories, such as stocks, magazines, etc.

Now they have released their Magpul PTS Version Ranger Plate 3 pack (Dark Earth). The Magpul PTS Version Ranger Plates install on the base of most M4/M16 high capacity magazines. The Ranger Plates have an integral loop that assist the user in pulling the magazines from pouches quickly.

So I'm not quite sure why that was posted. I know that online they state they will work with most hi cap but what I'm wondering is if they would also work with metal mid caps. I think I saw on either evike or xtreme that they come with a second replacement plate. IF u have any experience with these please let me know

It depends if the mid cap has a removable base plate.  Some do, some do not.

The one on the left is a chepo STAR plastic mid cap, the plate does not come off, it is all just 2 peices of molded plastic glued togehter,

The one on the right is a nice G&P metal mid-cap, the plate does come off

That's probably because you never posted a link to the ranger plates in question or clarified which ranger plates you were looking at.

No it doesn't, is it really that hard to just post a link to the product you are looking at rather than make people guess what you are talking about?  Did you even Google it yourself?  If so you would have realized you get two different products when you Google "PTS Ranger Plate".

That's also just the ones made by Magpul.  That doesn't cover the ones Star/ACM/Etc ones.
