Schedule

Carpool Meetup: 6:45am
Registration: 8:30am - 9:30am
Safety Briefing/Scenario Rules: 9:30am - 9:45am
Set-Up/Deployment: 9:45:am - 10:00am
Mission One: 10:00am - 12:30pm
Lunch Break: 12:30pm - 1:00pm
Set Up/Deployment: 1:00pm - 1:15pm
Mission Two: 1:15pm - 2:30pm
Cleanup: 2:30pm - 3:00pm
Carpool Leaves for Phoenix: 3:00pm

As March is pushing into the hot season I've pushed the game back a little bit time wise, as to avoid the afternoon-heat.

This schedule helps my situation immensely, thank you!  Its much easier to get clearance to attend when I'm not traipsing in the door at 5 or 6pm.  TJ and I will get payments for DH guys squared away.

Thanks for hosting Phantom, I had a good time.  As I said in my AAR to staff, my only critique was flag placement.  Placement is and an art with Sasco near the bunker area because so many commanding terrain features are so close together.  Basically with that flag layout ownership of the hill is a huge advantage.  I always found the alamo area much easier to balance but it does get a little bland I'm sure.  Also, I thought the medic rules added an interesting aspect to the game but I can see them easily being gamed by smart players.  The 'total control' victory condition was interesting from a C2 perspective but seemed to reward those who metered their pace and held out morale at the end of the evolution rather then awarding those who did it longest.  I'm sure that can be frustrating for some but I like to see the variety to keep things fresh (not saying I prefer one or the other as long as its clear before guns up).

All in all great job.  Communication was smooth leading up to the event, the event was smooth (heard little trash talk or complaining), and had a great time.  Thank you.

General Airsoft Discussion / Re: Combat Challenge

The terrain is tough for sure but not a deal killer IMO.  Other peoples mileage may vary.  The biggest impact for me so far has been the site outage.  Not knowing about an event that is paid and requires me to beg/borrow/steal a weekend from the wife until 2 or 3 weeks before is killing me.  The commitment to post on AA will be helpful from that stand point.  If you guys need a hand with the website stuff let me know.  I have space on a server I lease time on for TAC so it would be pretty easy to ftp the contents over and redirect the name servers for DNS to resolve the host name to something reachable by all ISPs until a long term solution can be found for your current host.

Pretty stoked for this event!  I'll check water for you guys a few days before the event but yesterday it seemed just a bit lower then where it was for Red Sleigh Down.

NEW RULES THIS GAME!

We are going to test out these rules for Medics instead of unlimited spawns. (Rules are on the main thread post as well.)

A: Only designated Medics can "revive" players ( Red Duct tape in form of a cross  on their back)
B: Anybody can "move" downed players as long as the living player has at least one HAND on the downed player
C: Downed players can NOT shoot, period! (forces team to protect medic better)
D: Reviving a player takes 10seconds , counted out loud
E: Neither the Medic or Downed player can move or shoot during revive sequence

What is the contingency should your medic get hit?

Switch MC to green and ACU to tan. The green side in last week's game had a heck of a time with IFF on the MC wearers as did the tan with ACU. It caused a lot of issues. Food for thought.

He is already working on it...

Who on tan is MC?

Probably going to switch MC this run to Green.

If worse comes to worse we can always use armbands right? ;)

Great time, nice to use the other side of sasco that doesn't get used as often by us.

Anyone get any worthwhile photos?

I have seen some floating around on facebook.  I'll drop them a hint to put them on photobucket or something and share with the TAC and AA sites.

Thank you everyone who made it out, your contributions make a real difference to the Toys For Tots program.  Last year we collected enough toys for 3 grocey carts.  This year you guys picked it up and filled 4 carts!  The response the staff had was great, they pointed at a bin and say the toys for tots go there.  When we explained we could not fit a truck full of toys in that tin they sent a guy out to help us load everything into the carts and put it in the employee area for sorting.  The whole time they kept going on about how great it was to see such a large donation.  We heard much if the same chatter from patrons who gathered around us to as we unloaded.  It was pretty cool and its all because this is a great community.

I hope you all had a great time, we had a good time watching events develop and the action ebb and flow.  At the end of Evolution 1 Tan was ahead with 34 points but green was not far being at 26 points since they held 11 of the 15 gifts.  Going into Evolution 2 green was actually 2 1 or 2 points almost the entire evolution and then a series of massive tan counterattacks took all the spawn points ending the game 20 minutes early in tans favor and gaining them the points on all the gifts held at all the spawn points.

Biggest lesson our admin staffed learned was the we will never map ACU to green and MC to tan again.  It was nice to be able to keep teams together and keep the Tan Vs Green even but it made it tougher then normal to IFF.  We will also be more logical/careful about what flags go at what point on the field.  It was fine after everyone oriented on the flag names vs positions but the first few minutes were rough for anyone who had played the even format with us before.

Thanks to all those to helped setup, chrono, direct, and staff.  Both those who planned on helping (DH team members) and those who just decide to lend a hand last second.  I wanted to also thank Tonk of 52 Zulu for the use of the flags.

As always we welcome your feedback. Feel free to post it here or send it in a PM to myself, ultimentra or cipherblue. Thanks once again and have a great weekend!

ADD Me for Undecided. I got a ride now out there. hmm woodland or Desert. tough choice. Also any tips on what too carry up onto the sasco hill. I got my self a alice medium pack with frame.

The hill wont be in play, we will be at the alamo site, just east of the normal area.

Water was a little high.  Trucks with clearance should be ok if they take it slow but I'd avoid low clearance or cars.

Roster updated.
Current as of 12/03/12 at 20:14.

We are at 79 not counting staff.  32 Green to 33 Tan.  We will see if any others RSVP in the next few days and then we will divide up the undecided players (mostly DH members) to keep the teams even.  Truly appreciate everyone's willingness to help keep the roster tidy.

Remember, ACU maps to green and MC maps to Tan for this evolution.  Please make sure to keep your uniforms the appropriate colors (tan all tan and green all green; no mixing) so we don't have any blue on blue confusion.

Radios are HIGHLY recommended.  If you don't call in objectives you don't get points.  Also, be sure to setup your gear and hydration so you can be in the field for prolonged periods.  This will not be a situation where you can play for 30 minutes then go back to the cars to bullshit and reload.  We will have a break but it will be after the evolution is complete and scores are being tallied.

Make sure you have reviewed the FPS limits, we will have several chronos setup to check people in.  We would prefer to have it go quick and smooth and not have to send people back to swap out guns.  We will also have admin staff not playing and checking weapons/responding to issues.  Please show up to have a good time and don't game the rules or be poor sportsman.  If that's your normal M.O., so us all a favor and bow out now.

Last but not least, I'll check the Santa Cruz later this week and get back with a status on whether it is unusually high/low.

Thank you all again for your support.

I've not been to a TAC game yet and when I was reading the rules, and I came across this one:
14. "...When you are hit and rendered out, you are encouraged to act out a "realistic dramatic death" and then place the red rag over your head while lying down. ..."

Does/will everyone be doing this?

Depends on my mood and the situation but I often drag myself around on the ground 'wounded' yelping for a medic.  Its often a nod to a good sportsman getting a solid kill on me, flow of game permitting of course.

2 from CT will be in attendance for sure, working on others.  We can go green or tan, put us where you need us and we'll show up in the appropriate color

Looking like green.  I'll add two generic entries under green for now.

DH is in, I'm gathering a head count for you now.

44
Totally depends on the water level of the Santa Cruz and wether or not the farmer upstream are irrigating fields.  For stalker I saw a small car (like Geo Metro size) make it through with no issue but I've also killed a 4x4 size truck in it as well.

I'll get some info before the game and post it here but its important that everyone make an assessment for themselves when they arrive at the crossing point.  If it looks too deep then park your car and hitch a ride or walk in (2 miles).  If it looks ok then go slow, its much cheaper and easier for us to pull a stuck car out of the water then it is for you to gun it through and suck water into your engine.  In that case we are pulling a dead car out of the water and your out the cost of a car.

RSVP list is now up to date with the latest information I have in both the AA and TAC threads as well as my PM box.

Important Clarification
At this time Multicam to Tan and ACU/ABU/ATAC map to green.  If you signed up under a color with a different understanding of the mapping please let me know so we can get your name in the right silo.

We could use some more green players if people are still thinking of attending.  We will shuffle the undecided players to even out the gaps where we can but if we have too large of a gap come game day we may have to make some trades to get it close.

I'll try to make it out to where Sasco Rd crosses the Santa Cruz and get a report on the water before the even and post it up.  However, it is advised that you come in a vehicle that can cross the river or square your gear away in such a manner that you could hitch a ride from the river in case in it unexpectedly high (i.e. don't bring 5 Tupperware totes of spare parts).

Thanks for the support so far everyone, I'm getting really excited.
