GBBR MAG TO HPA
« on: May 16, 2014, 09:13:52 AM »
Good day all!

I have been doing plenty research of how to tap the Mag, and the overall process, so I can convert my WE M4 mag from Propane to HPA. Any insight is always welcome!

the part im having difficulty narrowing down is: Which connectors/fitting should I use? And what locations would most likely have what I need?

And if any of you have input on what air rig would work well/best -- I'm all ears. Line, tank, regulator, etc. I don't mind having to place the items together.

Anything that will help me see my project come true. Thank for the help!

Add-on**

I found this website: http://www.mcmaster.com/#

It has plenty of tubing and connectors/fittings buuuuuuuuuuttttt -- Which kind should I use?

Check out Palmers’ Pursuit Shop in Sacramento, CA, he is into HPA stuff, good products and advice...

Good luck on your quest:)

Except, don't use a palmers reg, they are not very good by airsoft standards and don't regulate low psi builds which airsoft necessitates as well as other options out there.

There were some sniper / gbb guys out in Escondido CA I played with on occasion and they did what you want to do. They ran this rig because it was cheap and worked well. They had plumbed and threaded each mag with a qd male.

You can't use standard CO2 or HPA tanks with those ARX20 regs, you have to use SLP only, which are more nichey than normal tanks and limited to Ninja and a few others and are usually $30+ more per tank than normal tanks.

That said, its a fine reg otherwise, though I usually run it as a secondary reg to a larger higher flowing reg to fine tune FPS.

Not worth what they are asking for it though, I could build you the same exact reg for at least $10 less and you could choose what length and color of hose to use.

Forgot about that little detail. Ebay usually has a few on them for less than new money.

So After some time I was finally able to get the conversion done! The only issue i am having currently is with the upper valve. I may have damaged the sealing walls when i was tapping the hole next to it. Using lots of gasket seal and teflon ftw! And since there is bb follower; bolt catch will not function with this mag in.

Here are some pics:

Took the feeding mechanism from M4 high cap. Cut to fit the upper portion of the WE gas mag.

WE M4 gas mag shell. Sanded down lightly inside to accommodate feeding mechanism. Drilled hole for hose to go through.

WE PDW gas mag upper ( was easier to modify). drilled holed slightly bigger, tapped, then sealed the connector.

How the internals sit.

Feeding mech w/ bbs! Once everything was aligned, it all fed extremely well/smoothly. The upper slides out of the case and swivels out of the way so BBs are easy to pour on in. And the bottom plate was replaced with an AEG plate so I didn't have to cut holes for the winding wheel or screw hole.

All together. The hose helps keep the upper in place because of the hole fitting. Can place the rings that lock in place as well for more security.

It tapped my MP7 mags to use with my P* rig. Tapped 1/8 NPT and used Foster fittings. Did it so if I wanted to convert them back to green gas I can just remove the fitting and install a 1/8 NPT plug.

Also converted my Marushin M500 in the same manner. Tapped through the useless blowoff valve.

I was planning on tapping a random location as well, but then I also wanted to expand the capacity -- So i had to make as much space as possible.

Otherwise I would have stopped at what you did haha

Customer products has made a regulator that goes from 10psi to 120 psi I think perfect for the gbb conversion.

I tried doing the same with a G&G high cap didnt work lol. I was thinking about using a used co2 12 gram tapping a hole and using the co2 magazine. Anyone think of this yet or has tired it. I think I am going to do the high cap mod next to the gas mag. that why I was thinking if anyone thought about doing that. I am going to use the CP reg for adjust the pressure. I would like to trade a pdw for a scar cause I want to try something else with the mag.
