Title: "Universal Smart Charger"
Post by: Atrus on August 24, 2007, 11:54:15 PM
I really gotta stop doin crap last minute. I've got a charger for my battery, but there are no markings on the battery for volts or amps.. The two settings on the charger are 0.9A (amps, I assume) or 1.8A.. I'm somewhat lost. It's a mini battery I got form APD for my CA8-2.

If all else fails always use the lowest setting on your charger.

For a small, shitty battery, 0.9a.

For a good, decent battery, 1.8a.

The battery was like $30 at APD.. Says Intellect 1200 on it.. And nothing else.

Edit: I gotta get some sleep if I'm goin to the game tomorrow.. Gonna try .9 and cross my fingers.. Nigth all.

That battery is a NIMH battery.
Charge at 0.9 amps and you will be fine. :D

You dont really have to discahrge a NIMH, although it is good habit these batteries dont have memory effects

I own one of these chargers.

If you have enough time to leave your battery pack charging, use the .9A setting. The slower charge rate will be better for the battery and result in a longer-lasting charge. That being said, 1.8A of current probably isn't going to do any damage. Especially since Intellect cells are quite good.

Depending on the quality of manufacture, NIMH can develop a sort of temporary memory. While it is not critical to cycle (charge and discharge) the cells on a regular basis, it's best to avoid leaving your batteries charged for long periods of time.
