Local Games Listing/RSVP / UPDATE The Outskirts of Grozny 3 (SRBG 01.22.11)
« on: December 07, 2010, 07:11:20 AM »
UPDATE 01.20.11
Quote
Hello all.  I just wanted to update everyone and let you know that our scenario lead had to drop out.  Since he is unavailable to fully outline the event I will be picking up the slack.  As we are two days out this means the event will be less objective intense then we had originally planned.  While not 100% what we wanted to show you, I assure you it will be more then just a 'pickup game' on Forest Service land and we will stick to the time tables.  That all said, I wanted summarize that this is not going to be able to show you the 'REAL' Grozny 3 we had planned.

SRBG is a long trip for some of you and we fully understand if anyone needs to bow out, if you'd be so kind to inform us that would be great.  Simply post here, shoot me a PM.

For those ready to go no matter the content...  I'll see you out there on Saturday morning.  Feel free to post with any questions and I'll get them answered.

Remember:

Camping is allowed in the designated camp areas
Russians please bring a white arm band
Everyone please bring bio bbs and a radio
Everyone please bring food, water, and ammo to stay on your feet the duration

Outskirts Of Grozny 3

STORY
Now that winter has set in, Russian forces have become restless inside their defensive posts near the city of Grozny. Luckily recent interrogations of a Chechen Rebel defector have provided the Russians with a chance to strike the rebels where it will hurt the most, their beliefs. The Mufti Mullah Raza Khan Sasid of Grozny has long been a spiritual interpreter of Islamic law for many of the Chechen Rebels fighting against the oppressive Russians. He is heavily guarded day and night by the militia and moved frequently between safe houses and other remote locations as to insure his security. The Chechen Rebel defector has given the location of one such safe haven to the Russians.

Eager to capture such a prominent religious figure the Russians immediately sent out Chechnya allies the Vostok to scout the location and await Mullah Sasid's arrival. A full battalion of Russian Army and VDV sit at the ready in a nearby Russian base awaiting Sasid's arrival so that they might surround and capture him. The Russians are unaware of the fact that the Chechen Rebels have increased protection around all leaders in their militia due to increased fears of intelligence leaks. Both sides face a much harder fight then they realize.

Airsoft Items FOR SALE / WTS: A&K M249
« on: November 15, 2010, 08:16:26 AM »
Holidays are right around the corner and I need to make some extra cash to make ends meet.  So, I am looking to sell my A&K M249 and some extras.

It comes with a metal FNC para flash hider, and echo 1 lower RAS system as well as the stock hand guard and bi pod setup.  It has the stock drum magazine, which works great.  This gun shoots great and has had less then 1 full box mag put through it, nothing is wrong with it at all I simply could use the cash right now for the holidays.

Included:
Madbull Metal FNC Style Para Flashhider ($40 retail)
Echo 1 Lower M249 RAS ($50 retail)
A&K M249 Mk2 ($250 retail)
King Arms Fore Grip ($20 retail)

In addition to the above I will also include the stock battery, hand guard, and bi pod as well.  That is almost everything you need to play right out of the box, just add a cheap charger, BB's, and safety glasses!  I will not hold this for anyone, if your interested I will only hold on payment, you can pay in person or via paypal (add 3.5% for paypal fees).  Pickup can be in Redrock, at a game in Tucson, or we can meet on a Monday, Wednesday, or Friday morning in the Paradise Valley Mall area in Scottsdale.

Asking $260, no trades, and not parting out.

Actual photos of the gun:

ADDITIONAL ITEMS:

I also have an extra stock gear box for this gun that I have been holding onto for an upgrade project.  Since I never got around to making a souped up version its still 100% stock new, never used.  Will toss it in for $60 or sell separately for $75.

MAG Brand Soft shell drum magazine (actual one included is in OD shell) normally retails for $129.  This box mag works but hangs up feeding more then I would like.  Since I do not have the time or desire to crack into it if I sell the M249 I am willing to let it go, as is, for $50.

General Airsoft Game Discussion / Combat Challenge: Operation Agoge
« on: November 08, 2010, 07:57:21 AM »
Made it out to Combat Challenge OP: Agoge this past weekend and wanted to share a few photos from day 1.  Unfortunately a few of us had things we needed to get back to town for so we missed the combatitives demo on day 2.

There are only a dozen or two photos in this album.  Basically, we were on the move so much that we did not manage to get many photos outside of taking photos of random intel items we came across and wanted to be able to report in on.  Azsworst has some more and I'm sure he will get them up soon.

All in all the event was great, challenging both mentally and physically from start to finish.  We got a lot of usage out of the GPS and topo maps and covered tons of area both horizontally and vertically (you'll see what I mean in the photos)  We had a great time and look forward to doing it again.  I'll reserve the actual critique and feedback of the event for the CC forums, expect that in the next few days once I have some time to think about some of the details.

Thank you all who made it out it was great seeing so many new faces as well as alot of the old timers in the community.  I hope everyone had a good time and a good work out.  My apologies for cutting it a little short but with the injuries and exhaustion taking a dozen plus folks out of the game the forces were getting pretty lopsided.

Below you will find some photos I took, be sure to drop by the TAC boards and find the photos there as well.  If you have any suggestions feel free to drop a PM to myself or azsworst so we can pay particular attention in the next event.  Have a great week!

THE OUTSKIRTS OF GROZNY 2

STORY
After the initial route at the Outskirts of Grozny was turned into a victory Russian peace keeping forces have settled in for the winter and are preparing for a counter attack as the ground thaws.  The UN has dispatched US troops to the area to 'assist' the Russian forces in their peace keeping mission and to ensure disruption to the civilian population is kept to a minimum.

While US and Russian forces are busy watching one another and keeping looting to a minimum the rebels are using the window to consolidate and prepare additional guerrilla attacks...

General Airsoft Discussion / Be aware, be safe, and be responsible
« on: May 03, 2010, 10:25:01 AM »
Old hat for many of you older players who have been in the sport for years but worth bringing up again for some of the new folks to the sport...

For those of you who missed this late last week:
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/02/us/02 ... html?fta=y

more here:
http://www.kvoa.com/news/details-releas ... -shooting/

Basically, a Pinal county Sheriff deputy came across some smugglers transporting marijuana in the Desert near I8 and Gila Bend (Which is really not to awful far north of Sasco).  They were packing AK 47s, they got into a fire fight and the officer was wounded.  They were able to recover the officer and he survived but  I wanted to bring it up here for 2 reasons.

Reason 1, we often play in areas where we are likely to run into smuggling activity.  Sasco is a huge hot bed for smuggling as is Santa Rita.  If you run across anyone who looks out of place, mind your own business, get out of their way, and if it really stinks, call border patrol and/or the sheriff.  If you confront or investigate these folks you may end up in a potentially deadly situation.

Reason 2, this event is going to put LEOs on edge for some time.  If your ever approached by an LEO while playing airsoft DO NOT take it lightly.  You should immediately drop your rifle and put your hands in the air where they can be seen.  Obey all commands the officer gives you, even if that means your laying face first in the dirt. The key is to make the officer feel in control of the situation before you make any attempt to talk with them or even think about approaching them.  They have no idea your playing with toys and they will shoot to kill if that is what is needed to control the situation.

All in all we need to remain aware of our surroundings, be safe in our dealings, and be responsible about our conduct.  We are playing our sport in a desert that not only offers natural dangers but also man made ones.  We need to take ownership of our own well being and those of our friends and team mates and not do anything stupid.  I wish you all a safe and happy week.

Thank you everyone who made it out, you guys made a great event AWESOME!  I wanted to thank Greg from AEX for coming out and bringing some SoCal folks with him as well.  AEX does a great job at making sure we know that they appreciate communities like ours.

Please, hold on to your raffle tickets, when we get some expected additional prize support in we will be calling out a few more numbers.

All in all a great day folks, I heard ZERO complaining or cheating reports, this has to be a first for me.  It speaks loads of the caliber of players who took the time to come out and play (IN THE SNOW) with us this weekend.  Thank you all.

If you have any feedback please feel free to post it here or PM myself or azsworst.  Its only by getting your feedback we can continue to evolve the style of event we offer, so please don't be shy.

I took loads of great pictures, expect to see them up soon.

Site Suggestions / Anti Bot Mod
« on: June 10, 2009, 09:52:32 AM »
Looks like we have a uprising of porn bots now that the mail is working again and activations are taking place.  Here is the mod I used on the TAC boards to 'thin the herd':

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... 9&t=645075

Basically its a set of xml instructions that have you create a control panel module in the admin tools that creates a questions and answer box in the registration.  Since scripts rely on the activation form being the basic stock activation form this will trip them up.  Paco or another administrator with access to the phpbb install and rights to edit files will need to apply the fix.  It takes about 10 minutes to complete but will save countless hours in moderating time getting rid of the garbage these things are posting.
