That is so gay. I will never sport that in a battlefield, ever. I'll go to a foriegn country and join their military just so i don't have to sport it, thats how gay it is. It might be kinda cool on a helicopter, or maybe even as a crew served weapon, but if they issue some gay ass looking weapon, I will be retiring as soon as possible.

(I say this as a patriotic individual that believes every citizen should serve their country...but this is extremely gay.)

Yea screw that ... and screw guns too and knifes or swords.. ill just stick to throwing rocks to kill people. That was a pretty ignorant comment there ian.....

Its a cool concept, but I would be embarassed to tote that thing around. All it is is a BB gun on crack. Being an infantry guy, I get to carry some cool looking shit, and that...is not cool. The future of our military isn't looking cool either(some of the stupid crap they are coming up with is just rediculous). They don't need to go any farther than the XM-8, and ARMPAT. I also didn't see anything about how much this costs. I'd imagine as fast as it can fire, it will get quite expensive.

My favorite is the research the military has been doing on Acoustic Weapons:

Then there is infrasound — very low-frequency sound that can lead to a number of adverse biological effects such as "nausea, loss of bowels, disorientation, vomiting, potential internal organ damage," and once again, "death."

another article

"..evidence suggesting that at the right frequency, infrasound would "liquefy [people's] bowels and reduce them to quivering diarrheic masses."1.."

Talk about scarring the Sh*t out of your enemy.

Check out the promo video for this thing.  some guy on DefRev commented that id software made better weapons videos for Doom 3 than they made for the Dread.  If you follow some of the links, you'll find an interesting discussion on physics forum portraying the Dread as rather ineffective given the terminal ballistics and rather impossible given the physics involved.  It's definitely a cool idea, but it makes you wonder that if it really works, why is there only about 2 sec of actual operation on a 5 minute CHEESY video?  I think something fishy's going on here, or the inventor somehow found a way to subvert the laws of physics.  In that case, he deserves a cookie.

just a cookie for that?  lol.

Nick, I'll leave the physics side to the people with the brains, and just look at it from a humanitarian point of view...er, well, a moral side...er, uh...okay, I got nothin.

It is said that on the eve of battle, Dienekes was told that the Persian archers were so numerous that, when they fired their volleys, the mass of arrows blocked out the sun.  \"Good,\" Dienekes laughed, \"then we\'ll have our battle in the shade.\"

Easy bro, I wouldn't quite consider lurking for 3 years the same as "being around".

I've never met you, and I don't think you've been to many AA games (official or not, disregard the age issue).  So, to come on here in some of your first posts (after 3 years!) and say this:

That's pretty bold.  Ian is shipping out for 11B school here pretty quick, so he is entitled to his opinion regarding what may some day become issued to him.

Negative image of teenagers on this forum?
I am not aware of such an image.  Minors are tolerated very well here, considering the company they are in.

Keep these things in mind, and I'll see you at the next game, cowboy! ;)

All points taken, and I'm not saying I've been around awhile in a social sense, but rather to qualify my statement that it's one of the more ignorant statements I've ever read on here, because it is, and I have been actively reading the forums for a really long time. I mean, 'gay' as a pejorative is kind of lame. I'm not homosexual...nor do I have any homosexual leanings, but, I just think it's wrong, and quite frankly, ignorant. I think that for someone smart enough to make the choice to join  the armed forces (which I have nothing but respect for) is smart enough to come up with something better than gay. Also as someone who is joining the armed forces, I would think that aesthetics would come last behind, oh, say, preservation of self and others? I guess my thinking is if I were in the armed forces, I would 'sport' a jelly dildo if I knew it would a) dispatch the enemies more effectively or b) keep me from getting hurt.

I only bring up the age thing because it seems that for the most part, most people my age (I'm not trying to ride a high horse, we're the same age, and I acknowledge that) carry the banner high, which is good, but I mean,  saying something's gay, especially that many times, is juvenile and can't help things.

My original post seemed pretty harsh, and I understand that, but using gay as a pejorative (again, I'm not gay) is something that bothers me. It seems to be an objectification of the dumbing down of society, and I don't like that.

That's it and that's all.

An afterthought...anyone know where I can get my hands on a G&P SPR/A or SR-25? I'd make a new thread, but it doesn't really deserve one. It'd be nice if I could get a line on one though, everyone is sold out.
