Yeah man thanks for your help. Someday I'll have to actually go to an AA game sometime.

Actually you don't need to carve away anything.  Just get a really good grip on the piston head and unscrew it off the piston.  Don't use pliers or anything that will marr it.  I normally wrap a rag around it to get a good grip.  DO NOT put the M120 spring in without removing the spacer that is inside the piston.  You'll crack your gear box for sure since your M120 will act more like an M130 due to the extra tension on it.  I suggest you replace the piston head all together with one that doesn't need the stock spacer unit.

Hey guys,
Somewhere there is a really good tutorial on opening gearboxes, upgrades etc. I think it is on airsoftplayers.com. Harley's suggestion earlier of using a digital camera to record a "before" picture is a really good one. Sorta wish I had done that when I cracked open mine. Would have saved a trip to Casa de Harley for repair.
Y'all have a good one!

Go to your local hardware store pick up and new machine threaded screw and matching "nyloc nut".  The nyloc nut will prevent it from backing off on you and save you headaches down the road.  You might be able to find a nut to fit the stock screw, I've never tried so I can't tell you for sure with that.

I just bought an M120 spring and am in the process of replacing it. I cant seem to get the old spring away from the piston. Is there a way to get it off or do i need ot buy a new piston?
