illegal to have patches???
« on: February 11, 2011, 10:42:14 PM »
hello airsofters  last day i was watching a video in youtube about ACU LOADOUT !!

in the video is just a kid with the same vest  i have ...but i noticed  this comment in the video:

"Like the loadout, you need to wear the collar up and velcro around the neck when wearing a vest though. I would get your IR patches checked out, it's illegal to have working IR patches on your ACU unless you are either in the ARMY or Law Enforcement "

what can you tell me about this thing with the patches???

i was about to buy  a few patches from evike

2 USA color flag (normal) one for my BDU and one for my vest.
1 that it say "U.S.Army
1 blood type

but im not sure anymore.. please hope you can help or give some information about it !!

THANKS !!

Go on and buy your patches. Patches are not restricted to only military or LE. And for future reference, take the info from youtube with a grain of salt. I will say though, it is in very bad taste to wear a patch you have not earned, i.e. showing up with officers bars on or wearing a c.i.b.

Flag and blood type are fine. I wouldn't wear the army patch though, because i didn't serve in the army. It could be seen as posing.

Wearing medals, honors, or rank (not 100% on rank, but pretty sure) you haven't earned is technically illegal. IR patches are fine (those are those little black squares on the shoulders), as well as any and all morale patches.

I was actually watching the military channel a couple nights ago. Obviously it's TV, and not 100% accurate, but it said that the IR patches the military uses are the Country's Flag the soldier represents, (a fairly large patch) that has IR qualities too it, they are very distinctive looking, and hard to mistake for a normal Flag Patch. (what what I could tell from the video).

They are restricted FOR SALE to the military only.  So if you can buy a patch, your well with-in your right to wear it.  [smilie=armata_pdt_18.gif]

Of course, there's always the possibility that I'm wrong.

wearing a rank is legal as long as you dont try and abuse it or use it in any official manner..... i can go to a surplus store and buy them or even order them from online.... do i believe you should wear a unit patch if you didnt serve absolutely not however if you are a mil sim based team and you use ranks to determine who you are in the order of things than by all means use it... however when asked about it dont claim anything just say it means im the leader of my team or my group or something like that never claim service that you did not do....
on a light side think of it this way first battalion marines make fun of second and third and vice versa and none of them would ever claim another unit so think twice before putting on a unit specific patch

If you decide to wear a rank put a red piece of cloth behind it. Many people use the red behind the rank to designate that they are the rank for training purposes only.
