Title: New to many of you...
Post by: Legs on July 16, 2005, 09:16:14 PM
Name's Kyle and I was one of the first 6-10 members of AA back when it was first forming.  Only a few guys here have played with AA longer than I have, though many have played MORE than I have, if you get my meaning.  I'm one of those "old guys who got married and flaked out on the game by choosing family over the hobby" I guess!  I left for a little more than a year to try out some other things and I'm back now.
My first big game was Operation Savage Garden 3 in Nevada almost five years ago, and since then I've recruited for AA, helped form many of the rules and regs along with the Admin and several other "old guys" here, attended several large away games and generally tried to push airsoft forward.  I'm coming back to the game now and look forward to meeting you all, both old and new faces.  Not to be confused with old and new feces, which is less enjoyably met.  Spelling matters around here...

As a note to the newer players, AAs very first away game was Savage Garden 3 and there were 6 Arizona players there to represent the state.  Compare that to the massive numbers you posted for LC4 and you'll have a good idea how far AA has come.  As someone recently stated, AA has become synonymous with airsoft in Arizona.  I am proud of that and hope to see it continue.

Sorry for the book, but hey...that's what I do.

Dear God Kyle you're still hanging around AA?!?!?!?!?!?!

How goes it dude? Drop me a line sometime. (ssmither@gentexcorp.com)

Oh yeah, I'm Turd aka Scott. Like Kyle, I was one of the original AA members back when Jason had us meeting at the old paintball place on I-17 and Thomas before games. Nowdays I'm designing flight gear for Gentex Corp. out in sunny SoCal.

Like Kyle, Big John B, Jason, Mikey and Vell, I was along for the ride (with my trusty Maxim mag) all the way to SG3 in Cali. What a weekend that was...

As for my nick name, try crapping in the woods with 30 airsofters around and you'll get the picture...

Sheesh, now all we need is Jason and John saying "We're Baaaaack" and it'll be almost like old times again. Where has everyone been?

Curtis, we have been taking a break.  I had to threaten Kyle to come back with me, and I will drag him out to a game every now and then.

Actually, me, Kyle, and Howrangi (Mike) are starting up the old Team ORION, complete with ACU uniforms and G36 based guns.  Hope to see you at a game.

Scott, despite your traitorous defection to the PRK  :D , you are more than welcome to gear up and play as an honorary ORION member.  In fact, we might could use an ORION detachment behind enemy lines in Kommiefornia...it never hurts to have a freindly squad to hook up with if we ever head that direction.

I'm still here - for the most part.  You can point the finger at John for my "falling away" ;) .  If I hadn't gone to Ben Avery that one time...

Ahhh, the lure of "Real Steel". I love the smell of cordite in the morning, and the smell of Hoppes #9 in the evening. Nobody can blame you Jason.

I grew up with Hoppe's #9 air freshener. I love it so much it always either smells like Hoppe's or cat sh1t at my hacienda..

So, -are there any changes to the game you veteranos have noticed from years ago? I'm seeing a very similar experience from 80's paintball myself. (In a good way)  :)

See you on the fields

Mooncruiser, I'd agree with that.  Modern airsoft is much like 80's paintball.  Skill is emphasized over gear and players were honorable.  In AA I'd say things are about as they were before my little break...some good and bad (granted, as I see it), meaning it's at least stable.  What's great about AA is that my second game was Op: Savage Garden 3 in Reno (Turd, not Cali...and yes, the Maxim stories did and still do frighten me to this day), and AA only fielded a six man team at that game.  We made the first "name" for Arizona airsofters at that game and did well enough that we were all remembered at the next big game we attended.  I missed LC4 recently, but heard that AZ took nearly a platoon to that event.  There's a change I applaud big time and I'm very proud of AA's growth.  I'm glad to be back and look forward to building it further in any was possible...though with adult players!!  (ducking multiple thrown objects...)

man, if all of you old farts could hook up at a game again I'd weep to play alongside you one more time.  Good memories, gents.
