Venting at unethical techs

So this is my chance to vent at unethical repair techs

About a year ago I bought my sons 3 guns for use at Vanguard arena.
One was a brand new G&P PTS MOE M4-stock
One a Classic Army MP5-stock
One a Hurricane Shrike-systema 120 gearbox and magnus motor

I took them in to have their tech (who at the time was Ian) place new springs for cqb

No other shop as touched these guns since Ian

Over the past 2 weeks I have been converting them into polarstar builds
When the guns were taken apart I discovered that all 3 gearboxes and motors had been swapped out for very used echo-1 (probably their rental guns) gearboxes and motors.

So not only did he steal my G&P gear box and M120 motor, my CA gearbox and CA motor, and my Systema Gearbox and Motor and replaced them with cheap echo-1 rental stuff I actually paid him to do it and gave him a nice tip for getting it done so quickly.

In fairness to Vanguard, when I brought the issue up with the owner Brian he was very apologetic and said Ian was fired for suspicion of stealing.

So moral is pick your tech wisely. I know the current techs at Vanguard are great guys and I would trust them not to steal my parts and this is not a slam on vanguard just that scumbag Ian.

I had a Systema Magnum stolen from me from an unscrupulous tech once. Shit sucks man, I wouldn't do that to my worst enemy.

Did Vanguard offer you any sort of compensation for the theft?

There are 2 techs on my team and i only let them fix my guns.

My heart honestly just dropped when i read this. I'm sorry this happened to you. Thanks to this post, I will now start doing background checks on anyone who works on my guns LOL

I don't think Brian listens to imput. He's making money, I suppose, and that's all fine with him.
Whooda thought some thief would steal like that? Wonder how long it took before he got found out?

This is why Vanguard fired the guy. He last I heard was trying to get a job at Tempe Paintball/Airsoft.

Let's hang him out to dry. I have rope and tall tree out back. This is why I like the ability of dealing with my techs on a personal level, get to know them, hang out, and actually feel safe that my investment will be handled and taken care of. Oh, Vanguard, you're an indoor daycare for a reason.

Well, if this Ian guy did steal, small solace is that hopefully this guy's name is shit when he's looking for a tech gig. If the Tempe Paintball guys haven't seen this post yet, I'll mention it tonight.

Did Vanguard offer you any sort of compensation for the theft?

We sure did. It was a huge disappointment that we had someone so unethical as a tech, and as soon as we found out what he was doing, he was fired and is no longer allowed inside our building.

We compensated Drmalan with several free passes among other things.

As for techs we are not hiring anyone official as I tech most of our gear now as for learning how to tech airsoft guns I am still a noob and ask you guys questions and have been researching as much as possible.

Now I know we have spoken with a few people about doing some private work but if someone has a picture of this Ian kid I will def loonies out for him
