FPS "discrepency"
« on: September 08, 2007, 10:01:02 PM »
When checking out AEG's on different websites, I've noticed a large range of listed FPS on the same gun.

For example, on the CA25, the FPS range is close to 100 FPS in difference:

400+ FPS here:

http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=1982

310-320 FPS here:

http://www.airsoftextreme.com/store/ind ... ts_id=2952

So, are they using different weight BB's or something different?

Well hard to tell!!! I read that because of fps limits in the UK. CA had to have a UK version which caused the UK versions to shoot just under the Joule limit at about 320fps. I read that the CA25 actualy shoots at a higher stock fps than average. You also can never be sure of the AEX limits they put on the site always call to ask.

The CA website says that gun shoots 85-95 meters/second (about 279-312 FPS).  420 FPS is pretty hot for an AEG, especially a stock one.  Maybe Airsoft GI is using .12s

To the best of my knowledge, all current CA guns shoot 300ish with .20s out of the box.

If you scroll down you'll notice they also rate the CA25 at over 400fps.

http://www.ampair.net/e107_plugins/foru ... 14015.last

And in that review the owner claims the replica is firing at around 420fps and will probaly settle at around 390.

I emailed AEX and asked them about the difference.  i'll post what they tell me.  I wonder if CA would answer my email if I asked them?

From AEX:

Hello Benn,

Out of the box it shoots ~400fps.  It is misprinted in the info section on our website.

Interesting, so is that an average they get initially? Or is that after it settles? After reading the ampair review, do you think that CA has fixed the hop up issue?

I just chronoed my CA-25 on saturday and it was shooting 398 with a .20 and thats with the BORE UP kit in. My spring has for sure "settled" by now the only other up-grade made has been a CA (Stainless 6.04) TBB

Could the TBB be screwing it up, ive been told that you need to break in a TBB.
