Feedback on my beginner collection.
« on: February 28, 2013, 10:00:57 PM »
I bought a gas mask. Doctor who is the main reason why i bought it. Also I wanted to feel cool. Don't bash me for wanting to.
Here a picture of it with out the filter on.
i was making faces inside of the mask.

To be honest it is a bit suffocating with the filter on, but i like it. I am working on finding a way to make it more bearably to breath, but right now I am settled on keeping the filer off or having it loosely on.

Ok these are my guns. Star(UTG Gen. 5) And Clutch( M14 socom I think) I am not really good with gun names.
Clutch gets a bit stuck when shooting, and star needs to have FPS lowered D: i can't play her on any field. That i know of.

Eye glasses that get really foggy with mask

Eye glasses and mask together. I have no idea which way i should put on my mask.

.___. i tend to make faces

Okay, I'll go in order.

The gas mask you will only be able to play on certain fields. I'm not sure what the quality of your lenses are, but some fields won't let you use them because depending on the FPS limits and BBs used they can be shattered. Plus as you said, it'll get suffocating not to mention hot as balls.

Your replicas, are a good start. Eventually I would suggest upgrading to something else however. Not much else to say about those, not sure what you really want to know either.

Goggles, look good. Can't really tell from the pictures but they do look sealed which is a huge plus. A lower mesh mask would be a nice addition but other then that, there's really nothing more to say.

Suggestions, I guess you should probably invest in a chest rig or plate carrier eventually. There's really not much else I can say, I mean I'm not gonna tell you to get all Mil-Sim'ed out unless you really want to; all we're doing here is shooting each other with plastic bb guns, you have the guns and you have the eye protection so it looks like you're on the right track :)

let just make sure we leave our cell phone in the car next time.... I would start with a vest or battle rig before getting any more 'cool' masks. lol.

(put some anti-fog stuff in the googles, that should help with the fogging)

see ya on the field

Drill or cut holes in top and bottom of the mask to help fogging. More on the top then the bottom to allow the heat and vapor to escape. To make the lenses shatter-resistant. You can buy cheap screen protector sheets and cut them to fit the lenses. I'm sure you've seen the cell phone screens shattered to hell but still in tact with those protectors on. Same concept. If the lens shatters, the adhesive and plastic of the protector will prevent shards from entering your eye. I'd vouch that it would also stop the bb from piercing it as well just so long as the lens thickness is over 2mm. Let me know if you need a hand with those modifications and I should be able to do it at one of the fields provided the parts and tools.

My advice, only use the gas mask to look cool(like in a hostage situation game or juggernaut paintball based game). The guns look nice, dont use a sniper at a field anyways(assault rifles have the upper hand in their shorter range fields). I would however use a sniper at the campout or four peaks game. I hear it is best to wear the goggles over the mesh facemask for it to stay put better and not fog as easily.

As for the anti fog stuff, it works for a little while, but will eventually fog once your foam or cushion around your eyes gets soaked.

An AEG would be a nice start. That or move more towards shotguns. Inexpensive and much easier to work the action.

Other than that (and I may be breaking all the rules here) get a hunting vest. The pockets up front (meant to carry a box or more of 12 gauge shotgun shells) will easily carry magazines. I can fit upwards of 6 M14 magazines in my duck vest. The game pocket on the back makes a perfect dump pouch. It may not be milsim, but it works just as well without the $100+ investment in a tacticool vest or rig.
