Title: Left 4 Dead - Zombie Adventure MTT UAC Feb 27
Post by: Marauders Airsoft on December 31, 2009, 11:40:35 AM
Marauders Tactical Training is hosting a one day zombie adventure loosely based upon the hit video game series Left 4 Dead on Saturday, Februay 27 from 10 am - 4 pm.

The story so far...
Civilization has collapsed as a highly contagious virus has mutated most of the human population into deranged and blood thirsty animated corpses.  Pockets of survivors across the world fight to stay alive.

The city of Baghdad, Iraq was considered to be hell on earth by the soldiers who fought against insurgents, terrorists, and murderers.  That hell is now considered a beautiful dream as military survivors must now face their former troops who have joined the undead.  Even the jihadist now wish for the days of fighting only the infidel.

Will you survive or be left for dead?

Team Selection
Coalition Forces (24 spaces)
Uniforms - ACU, DCU, Desert MARPAT, or Contractor Impression

Jihadist (24 spaces)
Uniforms - Civilian Clothes with Shemagh or Balaclava

Equipment Requirements
Sealed Eye Protection
Boots
Tactical Vest or Chest Protector
AEG, pistol or shotgun < 375 FPS with .25 bb's

Admission
MTT AP Owners $10
General Public Early Registration at Gearbox Airsoft $20
General Public Day of Event $30

L4D is open to players 15 and up.  For more information about the location, visit http://www.Marauders.us (http://www.Marauders.us)

Sounds like a lot of fun. I like that the scenario doesn't involve the zombie portion being a 'surprise' to the players... who already know they're going to be there. lol.

The Left 4 Dead zombie adventure is just for fun, no training is necessary to play on either team.

Registration for the game will open on Jan. 17 at the BHD: Battle of Mogadishu game at Fighter Town.

As usual for a zombie adventure, MTT is getting quite a few questions about missions, rules and volunteers.

Event info will start being released next week after Black Hawk Down: Battle of Mogadishu.

Registration will open at the BHD event at Fighter Town.  Players will also be able to begin  registering at Gearbox Airsoft next week.

Here are a few answers to some of the more frequently asked questions.

Q: Do I need a team of 4 to 6 players to play?
A: No, just like in a "real" zombie apocalypse you would try to survive with any other fighters. If you don't have a group, you will be added to one.

Q: Other zombie games have had ammo restrictions.  Will there be one at L4D?
A: Each group of survivors will be issued a speed loader with approximately 100 bb's at the start of the mission.  Additional ammo will need to be found or taken from dead bodies.

Q: Who will be playing as the zombies?
A: All players will be required to serve as zombies for the other teams throughout the day.  Those who refuse to play as zombies will not be allowed to play at future zombie games.

Q: Can the two teams (Coalition and Jihadist) join forces to survive?
A: At the end of each mission there will be an objective that will only allow for 4 survivors to proceed (Helicopter Spaces, Gas Masks, Vaccine).  Teams can join together if they want, however, only four will move on to the next mission.

Q: Is there a cost to volunteer as a zombie?
A: No. Zombie volunteers earn a free admission to a future event at the UAC.

Q: All I have is a *INSERT WEAPON TYPE* with a winding mag. Can I use this at the event?
A: There won't be any weapon restrictions for players, however, these types of magazines will not function well with small amounts of ammo.  Each team will start with 100 bb's for 4 -6 players.  Expect to start with about 20 - 30 shots at most.

Q: Will there be wounding rules at L4D similar to the previous Resident Evil Games?
A: No, once infected, a player will become a zombie in one minute.  This will provide a short period of time for team members to strip gear from the victim.

Q: Will there be runners or other zombies with special abilities?
A: Yes.  For safety reasons only staff members will be assigned roles as the more dangerous undead.

Q: Can I use my foam sword, toy chainsaw or another melee (hand) weapon at the game?
A: Due to safety reasons, no hand weapons will be allowed.

Q: I rely want to play at teh zombie gam, but I dont have monye... My dad says its 2 far to drive...Im not old yet enuf...Can you help with these problems?
A: In order of questions... 1 Volunteer as a zombie to get a free admission for the next zombie event. 2 Email MTTStaff@gmail.com to learn about our carpool options. 3 Get your parent involved in the game and have them play in the adventure with you.

The "civilian" clothing is pretty lose so it should be just fine.

You could... especially for a zombie adventure. Should be limited long distance engagements, and most people will likely be running gas pistols and such.

What he is trying to say is its a zombie game. Zombies dont usally shoot back. So all your gunna have is people running up to you which would basically be CQB.

Well, the other survivors DO shoot back though. So it's nice to be able to hit a target at range. It's just that with each TEAM of people having around 100 rounds, those 2-4bb's between your hopup and main mag... wasted.

Will minors have to wear full face masks at this?
Title: Re: Left 4 Dead - Zombie Adventure MTT UAC Feb 27
Post by: bskulllz on January 30, 2010, 03:09:46 PM
How long does it take for a zombie to respawn and how do you die by a zombie? And what's to stop someone from just coming after you anyway? And are there objectives? and what comes with the admission? And can other squads kill you? Because that changes strategy a whole bunch!
Title: Re: Left 4 Dead - Zombie Adventure MTT UAC Feb 27
Post by: Marauders Airsoft on January 31, 2010, 12:39:46 PM
Q: Do minors need to wear full face masks?
A: No, but highly recommended.

Q:How long does it take for a zombie to respawn?
A: Zombies respawn in 20 seconds.

Q: How do zombies kill?
A: Zombies are contaminated by a highly infectious virus.  Physical contact with both hands of a zombie or zombie fluids (silly string) will infect the victim.

Q: Are there objectives at Left 4 Dead?
A: L4D will have at least two different missions with three different objectives.  Survivors will have to search for, secure and move objectives throughout these missions.  More info will be released closer to the event.

Q: What comes with admission?
A: Admission to the game and a raffle ticket.

Q: Can other squads kill you?
A: At the end of each mission only 4 survivors will move onto the next mission.  It is likely that other survivors may try to eliminate you to ensure their survival.

Q: How many times will squads get to try the missions?
A: Each squad will have at least two attempts at both missions throughout the day.

You can go to Gearbox on the southeast corner of southern and mclintock and sign up there. I'm not sure of an online registration.

To reserve a space, send an email to MTTStaff@gmail.com and make sure to put Left 4 Dead in the subject line.  Please include your name, age, and team selection in the body of the email.

To complete registration, visit Gearbox Airsoft before Feb 24 to prepay ($20).  Those who don't prepay may pay at the event $30.  However, due to the types of missions, the game will definitely have a limit of 48 players.  Priority will go to those who prepay at Gearbox and MTT Annual Pass Owners who reserve a space.

Don't risk missing the game by trying to "walk on" the day of the event.  Our last two zombie games were sold out.

Event info will be emailed out on Feb 20, 24, and 26 for those who registered or reserved a space.

Oh ya if no one knows this yet, the normal zombies will only be able to walk as fast as they can drag one leg...so if that changes your strategy, you should think over some good tactics for SURVIVAL. Thanks for all of the interest in the upcoming Left 4 Dead zombie adventure.  Here is some additional info about the game.

Road Conditions
MTT Staff has cleared most of the sand from the wash so that most vehicles should be able to make it.  It is still recommended that vehicles drive carefully as there are quite a few pot holes on the roads that have not been repaired.

Game Info
While L4D is primarily a zombie adventure, there will be some standard milsim battles at the event.  The first mission takes place about a week before the infection and will feature a large battle between the Jihadist and Coalition Forces.  There is not an ammo limit during the first mission. This mission is designed to give everyone a chance to test out their weapons, meet their team members, learn the field, and get some trigger time.  The first mission will also determine what areas the different teams start from during the L4D missions.

Weapon Selection
Players are welcome to use any type of airsoft weapon for the event as long as it shoots under 375 FPS with .25 bb's.  MTT will be marking all weapons so that they can be easily identified as passing the chrono.

When choosing what weapon you plan to use consider these factors -
1 Coalition and Jihadist teams (4 to 6 players each) start with 1 speed loader (provided by MTT) to split among their surviving team members.

2 Both teams will be trying to secure the objectives necessary to survival.  Plan on having to fight enemy survivors as well as zombies.  Remember that only four survivors will be able to continue onto the next mission.  Each group will have several opportunities to try the missions.

3 Many of the objectives will be hidden inside of complex buildings that have very tight corners, mouse holes, and hallways.  Long rifles may make close quarter fighting difficult.

4 Ammo will be vary scarce.  Select a weapon that ammo can be loaded into quickly from "found" or "captured weapons".  Players will be allowed to carry an empty speed loader to facilitate this.

Game Considerations
Please understand that Left 4 Dead is a zombie scenario game.  It gives participants a chance to experience a zombie apocalypse without any of the real world brain munching and throat biting.  As such, your experience will be based on your tactics, team, and luck.  Many players will find that their missions end much sooner than others due to a difficiency of any of the three previously mentioned attributes.

MTT will do our best to provide a balance between the two teams competing for survival.  For example, we will not put a team of experienced coalition forces who train on a regular basis at the Urban Assault Course against a group of friends who have never played airsoft.  However, there are bound to be match ups where one team has better equipment (range and accuracy) and more importantly, has trained together at the UAC.

Understand that everyone won't be the hero (or even survive the first mission) at the end of the event.  Most everyone at the event will end up as part of the undead hordes.  Just think about all of the zombie games and movies for a moment.  Every one of those is filled with thousands of zombies who were once people trying to survive the end of the world.  Watch your back, take care of your team, and fight like he** to stay alive because a momentary lapse in security is all it takes to become a human happy meal.

Most importantly, come to the event with the goal of having fun.  Afterall, if you find that you are ending up a zombie sooner than later, maybe this is nature's way of telling you to spend less time in front of the game console mowing down zombies and getting out into the real world to hone those freak bag killing skills.  :D

Here is a preview of the missions from Left 4 Dead.

Mission 1 – The Battle (One week prior to the outbreak)
Coalition forces battle against Jihadists for control of a suburb of Baghdad, Iraq.  Each force battles for control key buildings within the battlefield.

Mission 2 – The Rescue (One week after the outbreak)
Small pockets of survivors of the outbreak have secured key buildings against the hordes of the undead in Iraq.  A transmission over a survival radio frequency from an unknown individual indicates that both a cure and an escape option exist.  This individual has secured himself in an abandoned building and transmits his last known coordinates over the radio.  Survivors of both the Coalition Forces and Jihadist intercept this transmission.  Teams must accomplish the following objectives:

oMaintain a secure building
oLocate and secure the “Advisor”
oLocate and secure functional transportation

Mission 3 – The Escape
Members of the surviving team have secured “The Advisor” and transportation.  The Advisor relates that he was part of a convoy transporting a sample of the cure that was ambushed three days after the outbreak.  The Advisor believes that the sample is still at the ambush site.  The Advisor also relates that he can coordinate an extraction by his "Company" via satellite phone.  Members of the surviving team must accomplish the following objectives:

oProvide security for the Advisor
oLocate and secure the ambush site
oRecover the cure
oSecure a satellite phone
oSecure an area to provide the Advisor with time to contact the “Company”
oClassified Objective 1
oClassified Objective 2
oMove to the extraction site

Thanks Rouge Fox for the recommendation.

This first battle sounds like what I'm looking for.  We will be there with our best.

One that I know of, is that they can only move as fast as they can drag one leg....so I hope you're faster than a one legged zombie, oh and you're not infected unless they get two hands on you

EVENT UPDATE

We are still two weeks away from Left 4 Dead and the game is close to sold out.  Currently there are 46 players who have reserved spaces for the event.  Of those 18 have prepaid and 10 are MTT Annual Pass Owners (AP's don't have to prepay).

This means that there are approximately 18 players who have reserved a space by email that are either going to get to Gearbox before Feb 24 and prepay or pay $30 at the event.

Our staff has learned from previous events that approximately 1/3 of players who reserve a space at an event will not show up for the game.  As such, extra spaces will be made available for the game.  The game rules may be sightly modified if all registered players actually show up. (Example: A team might consist of eight players instead of six, provided with two speed loaders of bb's instead of one. However, only 6 players might move to the next round).

Current available spaces are:
Coalition: 10 spaces
Jihadist: 4 spaces

Again to reserve a space, please email your name, age, and team selection to MTTStaff@gmail.com

To complete your registration, visit Gearbox Airsoft in Tempe and  prepay $20 by Feb 24.  Game rules and schedule will be sent out by email only to those who have registered or reserved a space.

Q:Will tri-shot shotguns have a different ammo limit?

A: Players who want to use a tri-shot shotgun will be allowed to have two fully loaded shells. Players who use shotguns can only give shells to other players with shotguns.  The ammo can't be stripped from a shotgun shell and loaded into an AEG.

As there are quite a few players who will not get to sign up for the zombie game, MTT is hosting the games on the other fields not being used by the Left 4 Dead event.  Players who attend can participate in:

Mission 1 of Left 4 Dead - Coalition vs Jihadists (45 minute battle)
Attack and Defend (Afghan Village)
Play as a zombie in Baghdad during Left 4 Dead
Patrol Ambush (Ambush Alley)
Mini zombie games (Afghan Village)

Admission
General Public $10 (Registered at Gearbox Airsoft by Feb 24)
General Public at the Event $20

To register, visit Gearbox Airsoft by Feb 24 and sign up for only $10.  To reserve a space at the Open Games, send an email to http://www.Marauders.us (http://www.Marauders.us)

NOTE**Players participating at the Open Games will NOT participate as a survivor at Left 4 Dead Game.

Will we be allowed to switch around weapons in between the first and second missions?

For example, say I use my rifle in the first mission. Would I be allowed to put my rifle back in my vehicle and use a pistol or shotgun for the second mission?

Game information (Rules and Schedule) has been emailed out to registered participants.  If you did not receive an email, one of two things have occurred.

1 You did not provide an email with your registration at Gearbox Airsoft.  A staff member will contact you by telephone to get an email or provide directions.

2 The email provided was illegible or incorrect.  Again, a staff member will call you.

The game has over 50 players registered with close to 36 prepaid.  MTT will only allow upto 64 players to participate in the game.  Early registration closes on Feb. 24.

Here are a few more answers to some L4D questions.

Q: Will there be an ammo limit or magazine restriction during mission 1?
A: No- players may use any type of magazines with unlimited ammo.

Q: Can I switch between weapons between mission 1 and 2.
A: Players can switch weapons between missions 1 and 2.  Players may not switch weapons between missions 2 and 3.  Exceptions may be made for weapons that don't function.

Forecast for Tonopah, AZ where the field is located is mostly cloudy with a high of 74 degrees with possible showers.  Last week when a similar storm came by, the field didn't receive any rain during day on either Saturday or Sunday.

Hopefully, these conditions will repeat themselves.  The event will be held rain or shine.

L4D went very well and was extremely fun... the only thing I wish would have worked out better was NO TACTICAL ZOMBIES! [smilie=armata_pdt_05.gif] It was very frustrating having zombies cutting through buildings they know will lead to survivors. Zombies were only supposed to follow what they saw and what they heard and act senseless, but too many were thinking too much on how to kill survivors. Other than that, it was so fun and I had a blast! =D>  [smilie=armata_pdt_37.gif]

Thanks to everyone who came out to MTT's Left 4 Dead zombie adventure.  We had over 50 participants at the event (22 Coalition, 27 Jihadists, and 3 volunteer zombies.)

A link to a video of the event should be posted sometime tomorrow.  As with all of our events, our staff will listen to the feedback from the players to make the next event a better experience.  No word yet as to when or where the next zombie adventure will take place but another Left 4 Dead or Resident Evil game will definitely be held before the year is over.

For those who came out to Left 4 Dead, they can early register for OP: West Wing at Gearbox Airsoft by March 7.  Play both days for only $30 or just the game for $20 on Sunday.

Still doesn't answer my question. In all fairness my question could have been written a little better. The friendly response was rather encouraging though. I wounder why people looking for information on this forum are afraid of asking questions.
