TOP FPS/DISTANCE
« on: February 15, 2010, 11:07:56 PM »
I've heard of some people getting ridiculous fps and/or range on some of their guns (in weird ways). I want to hear some of the awesome ranges/fps some of you guys have.

My G&G M14 when stock chronoed at 383 w/ .25's and was sending .25 BB's out to 80 yards (82.6 if you want to split hairs) and hitting my team lead, who volunteered to be shot at, 6/10 times with a sporadic cross wind.  Not too shabby.  Not my M14 shoots about 460 w/ .20's and I'm shooting .28's and my goal is a bit closer to the 100 yard mark.  For those wondering, the distance was measured using a Bushnell Laser Range Finder, only upgrades at the time where a Madbull 6.03 Tightbore, Guarder Black Hop Up Rubber, Big Out H nub, Extreme-Fire AB Long and a #14 O-ring for the piston head.  BB's where AE .25's.

FPS wise, the highest I've hit with an AEG was 715fps, with a gas rifle about 690fps.

Blowback system?

I have only pushed up to around 150psi on my rig but that yields about the equivalent of 1200fps with a .2 More than that would probably just rupture and rip the hop up bucking. I would never play with anything like that but, it was funny to see it on the chrono.

strangely enough...i'd volunteer to get shot with that, not point blank, but at a close distance,  just to see how bad that hurts.  Thats how we usually test how good our AEG's are,  bareback at 20 feet,  but we're masochists.

Considering I can kill a bird from 50 feet away with a sp90 spring, the BB would end up inside you if he shot you at that fps.

Did a range test a long time ago with an indoor range out to 175ft. We were trying to get an idea about how accuracy degrades with distance. The test ran with a full length M16A3 barrel a M4 length and a CQBR. I will have to look up the results and post a link about it. Both the full length and the M4 did well out to almost 200ft but the cqbr was about half that.

I would say 200ft is about the max that I have ever seen a gun shoot out to, and at that distance the bb is floating like a leaf in the wind. If someone says they have a gun that will shoot 100yd (300ft) at game acceptable fps limits, I call BS.

I have found that airsofters in general have no accurate concept of distance.

I hope you mean AEG's. Any serious bolt action system(KJW/Tanaka/VSR/APS2) will do 300+ at "game acceptable fps limits". Most of the VSR guys can do head shots at 200ft pretty well.

Here are some examples of extreme precision in the 150-200ft range at a pretty low fps:

Again... and I am talking about any airsoft gun. Until I see someone hit a target at a range after they chrono it at game acceptable fps...
