I couldn't comment. I THINK Mikey has the FSN95s.

Me and Christian both have Fugitives.

I think Christian really likes the Lowas now.

I am on my third pair of merrell hiking shoes. I have a pair of merrell sawtooths but use my moab ventilator shoes for almost as much hiking as my sawtooths. The only complaint I have with merrells is the design of the upper shoe right around the pinky toe tends to split the seam. I have repaired that spot on both my sawtooths and my shoes, but it seems to be a weak point in the design.

The upper will wear out well before the vibram sole will, and I have never had a loss of grip.

I have Fugitive GTX's also.  I drank the Kool-aid and got them on the recommendation of Christian.  I wanted to get something waterproof, and since the initial purchase they have earned their keep.  My only experience with the FSN9s were trying them on at REI.  They felt about the same to me.  The Fugitives won out on looks.

Another pair you might want to consider are the Bates M9 or M6.  Virtually no break in and very comfortable.  I still have my first pair.  A few guys I work with wear them on the job.  Still kinda military looking so they are not 100% poser proof.

The Bates look cool, but I'm leaning towards something waterproof.  Wearing desert boots with ventilation in snow is...unpleasant.  That last game near Tucson had me worrying about my feet.

I'll have to head down to REI soon, try on Fugitives.  Also want to try out some Lowa Zephyrs.

Thanks for all the input guys, feel free to keep it coming.

dude look at some okley boots, same people that make the sunglasses. that is all i wore in iraq, was in the infantry did ALOT of walking they are boots but feel like tenashoes

If only they would have taught you to spell..

He wanted boots that look civi, hence why I didn't recommend the Oakleys. The SI boots aren't that comfy, I have worn both them and the Sabot's and prefer the sabots.

I have two pair of Fugitive GTXs.  They are THE boot.  They are being issued now for "use in mountainous terrain".  

The FSN95s were issued to a couple guys I know in the SOF community.  They love them.

I wear the Lowa Vento QC mid in the summer because they breathe extremely well, and are very supportive and comfortable.  Any GTX boot will get a bit too warm in the summer during prolonged time outdoors.  I bought the Lowas because of this.  

I had a pair of Merrel Ventilators.  They rubbed my Achilles tendon area, had poor arch support, and weren't constructed well.  I doubt I will ever buy a pair of Merrels again.

I have a pair of Oakley SI Assault Temperate Weather boots, I got in Bagram, that I wear when uniformity matters.  They are durable.  They have a better sole feel than my issued ICBs or ACBs, but still don't compare to the civilian boots.  

For a civilian hiking boot, you cannot go wrong with either the FSN95 GTX or the Fugitive GTX.  Asolo also has a great warranty.

nah, Asolos are shitty - I've worn em like 3,000 mi on motorcycles and probably 1,000 mi or more on foot and the little rubber toe cap has separated at the front of the left boot like a half an inch

Thats from your shifter on your bike.  Its a hiking boot, not a riding boot, bro.

Converse Rapid Response Boot. Comes in 6" and 8" heights. You can get them with or without a composite toe. Most comfortable boot I've ever owned, yes even better than the Bates Ultralights. I'm hard on boots, 2-3 pairs a year in my line of work. I've had these since April of '09 and they are still going strong.

They sent me a free pair of 5.11 tactical socks with mine and they are nice socks too. You can really tell the difference if you are on your feet all day.

I ran 4 miles every day in them for like six months.

And then all the airsoft.

And then all the average walking around.

It's close.

Same thing happened to a pair of danners I owned that I used to wear while riding. From sliding my toe under the shifter it just kind of wore them out.
