Cheap Type96 too good to be true?

is this rifle too good to be true?  80 bucks is affordable to me in one paycheck.

I'm looking for a good spring powered sniper rifle that outreaches my M4 AEG.  What is a cheap rifle that you guys would suggest?

what would you suggest for a starter airsoft sniper?  I am looking for something a bit more modern and tactical looking such as an M14 EBR, spring powered (so... not the M14), and one that can hit long distances (that outreach my M4).  Also, I'm looking to spend under $200

as far as experience and stuff goes, I own a mosin nagant with the a scope, and i can hit a soda can 100 yards away within a few shots.  I don't know how different airsoft sniping is, but i think it's something i would enjoy.

There aren't cheap bolt action snipers that will outrange a decent AEG.
Unless you have the money to do it right (more than $200), a single-shot sniper will not have any advantage over an AEG.

Spend the money to upgrade your m4. If you want something that outranges it... make it outrange itself.

ouch.

That seems reasonable though.  I own a stock Dboys M4 AEG.

Took it to a game yesterday and it performed really well, but there were times when I couldn't hit people 300+ feet away.  Chased a sniper but couldn't reach him.  He raised his rifle and tagged me in the chest haha.
What would be the first upgrade I'd look at?  A spring?

Tightbore barrel is a great starting place, then I would advise you to throw in a new hopup bucking and nub, perhaps even an SCS if you dont mind a tiny bit of calibration.

300+? You expect to hit people reliably at 300+?
To do that reliably, you'll need a darn good hopup unit, bucking, nub, barrel, and very consistent FPS.

Well, if someone can hit me at 300 when I can't hit them, then I'd say I'm at an incredible disadvantage.

This is why this whole thing about upgrading my M4/getting a rifle came up haha

My custom L96 can easily hit targets at 275-300 ft, but I also didnt spend $80 on it either, The original builder of it spent about $120 for the base rifle and then another $600 on upgrades to make it what it is now. I sold the gun (stupid mistake) and just repurchased it from the guy I sold it to because of the awesomeness of the gun. It basically boils down to how much do you want to spend on making either gun reach 300ft, its going to be a project no matter what you choose. I had a SR25 project for awhile and had it up to 470fps on semi auto but just got to deep in my pockets and had to sell it. The project rifle isnt for the faint of heart or empty wallet person. Just my .02

This was said earlier in another thread, but if your AO has many areas with open distances like this...it probably isn't the *most* conducive environment for airsofting.

With that being said, a great hopup/barrel combination will take you a long way. I also suggest starting there. Personally, the first upgrade I perform on almost every weapon is a hopup/barrel replacement

Well if he has an Echo1 or any other mid to high end gun the Hop-up unit that came with it will be ok. my DMR is shooting 500 fps with the stock hop up and i'm hitting out to about 200 feet with it. if he is looking for range my opinion is get a new spring and a TBB

I have a UTG Master Sniper Rifle and it is pretty good. It shoots 550 to 580 fps with .12 and can reach out far. Plus it is less than 100 dollars on Airsplat.com if you use the 10 dollars off coupon
