Can the Leupold Mark 4 CQ/T rail fit an EOtech?
« on: November 24, 2008, 11:25:51 AM »
So to continually at to my G36A2 project, I have come across various photos of Germans outfitted with Leupold Mark 4 CQ/T scopes.

Since I have nowhere near the desire to purchase a real steel version of it (I prefer Iron sights when shooting for real, I don't need anything "tactical" if I didn't), I have found a few replicas online within my price range. The problem is, I have seen KSK and Bundeswehr photos with a Leupold Mark 4 and the ever popular EOtech 553 on top, and was wondering if any of these replicas could have an EOtech mounted on top. It seems the railing on top is very sparse, but I don't have an EOtech currently to know.

Here are the contenders:
EHobbyAsia, cheaper and fairly accurate depiction, a little bigger and more magnification, but a decent looking replica of the Mk4, with the incorrect reticule (its a cross on this one versus the true Leupold Circle and Dot):

EbayBanned, and almost exact copy, more expensive than the EHA one, only thing that makes me worried is the depiction of the magnification, and the fact that there is no reticule (true Leupold has a circle-dot reticle that I like a lot) displayed. The description mentions 10 brightness settings though, but I really hope its not just red dot:

So unless other people have a more accurate or better quality Leupold Mk4 CQ/T to offer up (the real deal is upwards of 1,000 bucks), can anyone from experience or just looking at those models figure out if an EOtech 553 can fit on there. And if not, what EOtech or other optics can?

Here are some better real steel views:

I am mostly concerned with the forward adjustment knob on top. The EbayBanned one looks too exosed and would block rail access, while the EHA one seems more recessed like the real Leupold. I also found out the EbayBanned is the King Arms Leupold Replica, and has the correct reticule, so that is the forerunner contender for what I want to get, as long as an EOtech can fit on top.
