Airsplat Tac Force M16 Vest
« on: July 10, 2005, 03:09:19 AM »
Anyone who has/had one of these, do they hold up for $60?
I don't want to spend $200+ on a real vest yet and I just wanna get a nice basic one.
Also, the picture makes it look kinda rust colored, is it? Or is it black?http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AC-APP-TFS80615.htm

I  used the Tac Force vest for a while just cause I got it cheap.  I had the tan one and it worked out pretty well. Its not going to last a long time, or work too well, but it worked for me while I was inbetween  set ups.

You would probably be better off getting a USGI LBV. It would be about half the price, and would be more comfortable.

I actually liked the Tac Force vest more than my LBV.  It also held more magazines.  I got the tan version and hit it w/ some OD spraypaint and it worked fine pretty much anywhere.  Rick

You can get a much better setup for 60 bucks.

Here's one example:

47 bucks:http://www.optactical.com/blchpohma.html

It will last longer than you, has room for 8 mags, pistol mags.

I like the Tac Force because of the pouches, but the BH one is better quality.... Hmm

Another thing to consider is resale.  You're not going to want this forever.

TAC FORCE can't be given away, whereas you might be able to get damn near what you paid for the BLACKHAWK! rig.

Just something to think about.

Yea, I want to go with the Blackhawk, but it would make my upper chest feel naked. Not that I need protection, just that it's an empty space. Maybe I should go for the suspenders and belt style LBV?

$38 if you do it this way.  It says $47, but the price should be 20% less than that.

Many companies sell stuff through the Blackhawk website at a reduced price, not just this one.

The main drawback of a TAC vest is unused real estate on the rig.  This holds the same gear, in a smaller profile.  It's a chest rig.  It covers your chest.  It holds your mags.  What more do you want?

Yeah, that will provide much more coverage!

Thanks Raith :)

Sarge, I don't really have to worry about resale because I can sell it to one of my friends here in Havasu.

What I meant by that is it would be uneven. It would feel wierd to have my stomach covered, but not my chest. I want either nothing covered, or everything. I'm thinking of going with a Vietnam-type setup. Either the belt and harness or that big puffy vest that the guy in Platoon wears, anyone know what one that is?

Were the Vietnam flak jackets like that? They look alot like the body armor (I think) riot police use, with the neck guard on the back.

You can always get one of those, and customize it! :-)

But the BHI one that Sarge pointed out is pretty cool.

Also, that one doesn't come with pouches = /
