DMR Upgrade
« on: October 06, 2012, 04:24:06 PM »
I'm trying to help a friend upgrade his G&G Combat Machine from a POS to a DMR or similar-type weapon with decent range.

His budget is $150.  Any suggestions?

I just bought a G4 that I'm going to use as my new DMR since, the G4 is a CM on crack basically, I'll be as much of an assistance as possible. As far as buying things go, he'll want to buy anything that he may think he'd need for externals. ie: optics, possibly a bi-pod, maybe a grip. etc. Internally if it's stock he wants to focus on compression. It's not all about having a TBB. Make sure the hop-up is in working order. Depending on what he's playing possibly an upgraded spring.

Internals:

-m140 spring (or whatever he wants)
-neo torque motor (SHS, JG, Lonex, element, etc)
-SHS 15 steel piston
-SHS ported aluminum piston head (helps with transferring energy for heavy bb's)
-recommend switching to XYT or GE 18:1's
-recommend switching to nice 16awg wiring
-recommend switching to steel bushings

Hop up:

-prommy or madbull 6.03
-g&g green, madbull blue, or systema bucking
-pcs nub

There are a lot of different combinations for the hop up. If you feel up to it, I would recommend ER hop with EM nub. Next best thing is flat hop. Your call.

Basic DIY:

-shim via bevel
-install deans
-grease
-correct AoE to 12 o-clock with 70D sorbo and neophrene pad
-airseal mods
-barrel stabilization
-shim hop up arm
-etc...

Hope this helps.

How much does all of that cost?  Sounds expensive.....

Depends on if you order in the US or outside, or if you buy new or used locally. Spazz carries SHS and core parts. You can get all the parts from locals on the forum.
Used probably about $80 or less for everything

I have a stock Combat Machine, all I did was throw in a new one piece hop up, a 6.03 tightbore by mad bull, suppressor to hide the extra barrel length and a Holographic sight.

It's not DMR rated but it gives you an edge over other stock weapons on the field with a tighter grouping and more power. You could do a lot more but this is sort of a minimum list if you don't want to go all out for it.

M130 Spring-15$
Mad Bull X Factor Piston -20$
G and G High Torque Motor-60$
Systema Area 1000 Spring guide-13$
G&G 6.04mm High Precision Inner Barrel for RK47 ( 463mm )-30$
Hunterseeker Armory IR Hop Z Kit(R-Hop)-25$

+Airsoft GI 10 percent discount code=147$

It would be wise to upgrade to a nicer set of gears later down the road, but stock gears, especially G&G stock gears are capable of handling a 130 spring just fine if rand at the proper speeds. With the higher load it would be worth rewiring the gearbox too.

Hope this helps, This is just what I would have done for the DMR project.
I like the 6.04 because it is a nice seal as well as very tolerable to the climate here.

Clandestine:

Lonex A1 motor $48 or SHS torque $30
Steel bushings $3.50
HC POM piston head $6
SHS 15 steel piston $9
70D sorbo $5
Neophrene $1.50
M130 $5
ER-hop $16.50
EM-Nub $14.50

EST price with shipping: $96-114

From local:

XYT or GE 18:1s $10 or so (I've used these in DMR builds and DSG, they hold up great)
madbull 6.03 455mm $25 or so

EST price: $30

Final EST price: $126-$144

Both Warlord and I cut sorbo pads, you can get those from us if you choose.
Also, I know slinkey and spazz have their own versions of r-hop which will save you some cash.

EDIT: I tried to keep most if it from 1 store for simplicities sake
