Looking for a new hobby
« on: February 11, 2016, 04:17:12 PM »
Hello all,

My name is Justin. I am a 5 year Marine Corps veteran and current LEO. I have worked night shift for the past 15 years of my life, hence the handle. I have been an information sponge for the past 2 weeks reading any and everything I could find on the sport of Airsoft and would love to get involved. My only hesitation comes from only having Tue-Thurs off at work and not knowing if there are games held on those days with enough people to keep me entertained. I am sure I could take a day off here and there to play on the weekends but I would love to have a regular game I attend a few times a month to keep me current. I guess my first post is asking where everyone plays and is there anything on the west valley that has good attendance? After that I will ask around as far as gear goes. I am wanting to stay in the AR/M4 line to get as much handling practice as I can. I am a rifle instructor at work and any chance I have to run the system I take it.

Anyways, looking forward to any and all information I can get.

Side note....HOLY CRAP is the verification system this site uses impossible to read. Seriously...took like 20 tries to get the account set up and I have to use it whenever I post. Yikes.

Side side note, just saw the listen to letters button...sigh

there was a guy that i sold my vector to who had a team that only played during the week over at VIP on val vista and baseline. That was the best time to go as there were hardly any kids playing during those times. not sure about west valley though.

Welcome to the sport and thank you for your service.  I too am on the West side and there are a few options on the weekends (Fightertown, especially) but very little on weekdays.  VIP is opening a new location in Paradise Valley, but not for a few months.  As for gear, I would suggest a gas blowback M4, since it is extremely close to the real thing when it comes to tearing it down and operation.  My son got one from a weapons instructor who used it for years as the first training tool for someone learning to use the M4.  Good luck and enjoy the sport.  Oh, and if you don't know already, the people at Command Post Paintball are really knowledgeable and good guys and love the sport as well.  They are kind of in the West Side:).

Good luck to you and enjoy the fun!

Semper Fi brother,

I was six years as an 0311, 14 years as a LEO. I'm transitioning from 30+ years of paintball to airsoft now. I'm available to join you at VIP in Gilbert on some weeknights to work on entry training and see if we can get a few more guys/gals in to have some fun. I spent the last 5+ years in the Advanced Officer Training division, 10+ years as a firearms instructor/range master, so I'm sure we can get in some good drills. Hit me up and we'll get-er-done!

Stay safe and Train Hard!
Jeff

Thanks for the replies. Pretty much sold on a gbb m4. Think I'll make a trip to the command center next week. Jeff, that sounds awesome. I'll definitely hit you up when I get my loadout setup. Seriously looking forward to getting to this.
