Ammo wouldnt be expensive becuase you would have to get a whole new barrel each time you fire it. The rounds are pre stacked in the barrel with no casing from the factory, to reload you would have to put a whole new barrel on. One of the many reasons you probly never will see this thing in the civilian market any time soon.

Metal storm's original purpose was to play as a computer operated defense turret.

It wasn't meant to go mobile.
...at least not yet.

Oh, and if I remember correctly, it wasn't a grenade launcher it was a 40mm or something.

Haha can you imagine being an urban sniper in some building, laying on the floor reloading, and all of a sudden you hear *nnnnnyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaa* *PFFFFT* and about 200 bullets shred away at the walls in less than one second, but your not hit.  That would be intense.

Which is a grenade launcher.  And it was a grenade launcher.  And BOOM, it only fires 3 rounds before it recoils, not the entire gun.
