Help on Class III transfer
« on: March 28, 2013, 03:28:28 PM »
So im interested in purchasing a LMT CQB MRP Piston, and the seller is in Prescott, his weapon package includes the stock Colt SBR, LMT upper, and a Gem Tech supressor. Now This is the first Class III rifle ive actually been interested in buying but I dont really know anything else on how to properly purchase and register it beyond the $200 tax. So my questions pertain to the following.

1.Once purchased how difficult is it to transfer all information from the previous owner to me as the owner of the SBR?

2.Since there are three Class III items in the entire package am I to pay $1200 for the tax for all items or just $200?

3.After the purchase where do I go to register it?

Its 200 per item. One for the SBR LOWER, one for the supressor.

If the lower wasn't registered as a pistol or Sbr, its not legal to build into an SBR doing the traditional tax stamp process.

Once it is (or assuming this one is) registered, you can then put any upper you want on it, from 4" to 24".

Lately, it is a 6-12 month waiting period.

While you are waiting for each tax stamp, its illegal to own the firearm, or suppressor or have it in your possession. C III xfers are best handled through an intermediary FFL holder who will hold onto the rifle while you are waiting tax stamps.

If the suppressor is pinned and welded on and the combined length of the barrel and suppressor is 16 inches you only need the one tax stamp for the suppressor  ???
