Biggest Scorpion I've Seen!!
« on: October 07, 2011, 05:32:51 PM »
This is seriously the biggest scorpion I've seen while living here in AZ. I've lived here all my life, 19 years, and this is by far the biggest one I've seen. My hand in the picture fits in an XL glove.

id rather step on a big one than a small one. the smaller they are the more dangerous.

That's a generalization that doesn't really have much validity to it. If we compare a small and large scorpion of the same species, the larger one will have MORE venom to deliver than the small one. Sure, the smaller ones aren't adept at gauging threats, but the larger ones only regulate venom used in their prey, using only the minimum required dose  because venom is expensive to produce, in terms of biological activity and resources.

EX: a scorpion takes a nap in your shoe, and you put the shoe on. Your big, sweaty, smelly toe gets all up in that scorpion's face, and that scorpion gets defensive. The bigger the scorpion, the more venom.

A sheepdog can bite from any distance.

I think he ment that he would rather step on a emperor scorpion than a bark scorpion because the pioson is more concentrated in the bark scorpion than the emperor

Thats a desert Hairy... those can sell for around 40 bucks.  A lot out in buckeye, they get up to 6 inches.  Live in burroughs and tend to come out when it rains.  The toxicity of a Desety Hairy is equivalent to a bee sting.  The small skinny tail Barks have much more toxicity then that.  Remember scorpions will eat each other, Desert Hairys eat little barks.. so I don't kill them.  However, I always try to devise evil ways to exterminate the barks.

Also if you have scorpion problems.. don't hire pest control... google CY-KICK, buy it and spray it... then watch the bug genocide.
