Turning a PaintBall gun into a LAW
« on: April 11, 2011, 08:47:17 PM »
I've got a brand new Tippman A5 that has been sitting in my closet for about 5 years. I've never even shot the thing, but I was wondering if it would be possible to turn it into something that could shoot a foam rocket. If anyone has done something like this or has any ideas on how to go about doing this, let me know.

Thought about doing that exact same thing. Just need to get the right aluminum tube and weld an adapter onto a barrel. Don't know if it has enough power behind it but it is worth a try.

I had the same thought.  But mine is for a mortar.  I was thinking about a tank of air, with a chamber just above it.  With two ball valves.  Open the lower to charge the chamber, close.  Then open the upperball valve to shoot the rocket.  Nerf mini footballs.  Havent thought alot about it.  you might get a dozen shots off, wwith out having to change the main tank.  It would work kind of like a M203, but having a tank hooked up to the grenade.

I have a friend who works at Darkstar Paintball. I'm pretty sure he helped his boss build one a while back. Him and I have actually contemplated on designing and building a "cannon" type launcher for T-Shirts, Tennis Balls, and Nerf footballs for awhile now. He's built a few custom guns and all of his are hybrids that use a lot of custom machined parts he's made. He also said that with the right regulator and base marker it should be possible and running a 12g co2 converter would be the best idea.
