PRS stock or no PRS stock?
« on: June 25, 2011, 01:58:20 AM »
So many of you are aware of my lovely Nova:

I was wondering if I should put a FDE / Black PRS stock on her.

I would, of course, color it two tone to match the rest of the gun.  Probably paint the cheek rest black.
There's a drawback to this.  I currently use (a monster 3800 9.6V battery) and it would have to be replaced, as I don't know how the hell I'm going to fit it in there (it currently fits into my customized SOPMOD stock).

Incoming upgrades to help the gun is an EOTech flip to side magnifier, and perhaps a tan EOTech cover w/ laser like one seen here:

Your thoughts?

PRS's don't look good on shorter guns IMO.  But in regards to the EoTech, I happen to have an EoLad in Tan if you are looking to pick one up.  PM me an offer if you are interested.

I'm going to have to agree with XM on this. I remember the first time saw a PRS in person, it looked a lot bigger than I had imagined it looking. It would probably look a little awkward on your gun. Why do you want to get rid of the crane stock? They have always been my favorite of all the collapsible for the AR.

The reason I want to get a bigger stock is because the front end of my gun is very bulky.  I wanted a bigger butt to balance out the rear, if you will.  It's not SR-25 length, but this thing has a 455mm barrel in it (almost M16)

I may just purchase the PRS, try it out, and go back to the crane if I don't like it.
Do any of you guys know how the battery fits into the rear?

If you went the ACM route it wouldn't be too expensive just to try, but the real ones are pricey.

The only battery I've seen in a PRS was a small in the buffer tube, and I believe it had to be modded. I don't think they are designed to hold batteries.

Really the only thing preventing it is the screw is in the way.

I've ordered the PRS Stock.  Will have it within 2 weeks, and will tell you guys how it goes.  I'll post pictures with a before/after comparison and see which one you guys like better.
