General Airsoft Discussion / Foam Rockets
« on: May 17, 2015, 03:45:46 PM »
I know several of you have been waiting for this. (several of you probably don't give a hoot) :P
But either way, I'm almost ready to launch the kickstarter campaign for the Foam Rockets many of you have seen me using at local games.

Right now I'm looking for feedback before the campaign goes live. If you care to read through it and let me know what you think, any changes you think I should make, etc, I'd really appreciate it.

I plan to go live next week. Wednesday maybe?

Airsoft Items FOR SALE / KWA GBB M9
« on: April 16, 2015, 10:29:20 PM »
Click images for full size, sorry for the phone quality photos, I am NOT a photographer!

1: $120 - KWA M9 Tactical GBB Pistol. Brand new, never been shot. Won it at Op: Copperhead.

2: I also have an Ares Tavor, I haven't decided if I want to sell this or not, but if somebody really wants one, I'd probably let it go. I removed the POS hopup and modified a Prowin M4 Hop up to fit. It has a 6.03 barrel in it, mosfet installed. It needs a new motor though, and I just haven't gotten around to taking it apart and replacing the motor. Other than that, its gtg.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

If you want to work out a package deal, I'm all for it. I also have some 45/4500 tanks that I will be offloading as well once I sell this stuff. If you need one with one of the above items, let me know.

Objectives:

  • Your team must protect its own assets from the enemy for the duration of the mission.

  • Mobile: Each team will have a mobile respawn flag that can be moved by any person alive on that team.

Mobile Explosive:
  • There will be a large bomb in a random location on the field. It must be located and transported to the enemies base.
  • The bomb can be used by either team.
  • Only the EOD tech on each team can defuse the bomb. Any player can arm it. (EOD Tech will be chosen on game day)

General Airsoft Discussion / 40mm Foam Rockets
« on: June 15, 2013, 09:17:35 PM »
Hold on to your panties lady's and gents. What I'm about to show you is a project I have been working on for years, and have finally come to a near finishing point.

You may or may not be interested in this. But there are a few of you out there that I know will be. :)

I am showcasing the rockets, not the launcher. The launcher will be my new AT-4, but for now, its just the guts.
These rockets are designed to fit a 1.5" or 40mm tube. (under-barrel launcher anybody?) I originally was going to make a 50mm version as well, and may still do that, but the 40mm versions fly so well, and are much more efficient then the 50's, that I have no reason to make the 50mm ones. I would rather convert all my stuff to use the 40mm rockets. But, if there is enough request for a 50mm variant down the road, maybe I'll re-open that possibility. We'll see.

*Duct-taped a set of 25mm scope rings to the pipe, stuck a quick 3d printed reticule inside one of the rings, helped with aiming immensely.

These 4 shots/videos below;
The first two are with the first edition of my rockets with a fairly flimsy tail. (v1)
The second two are with the second edition of rockets. Modified tail to be much sturdier. (v2)

All shots made at about 100 psi, with a slight eastward wind (shooting direction was North-East).

V1 Rockets, 2/4 fins have twist, tail section somewhat flimsy.

V1 Test 1: ~350ft rest (after bounce)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5pSWHlFA4Q

V1 Test 2: ~380ft rest (after bounce)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8NgCkp2rlc

V1: Rockets resting position was about 10ft apart side to side, and about 30ft apart range wise.

V2 Rockets, 4/4 fins have twist, tail section sturdy.

V2 Test 1: ~364ft rest (after bounce)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fj10pAN-IBA

v2 Test 2: ~364ft rest (after bounce)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYR4-emqsQU

V2: Rockets resting position was about 6ft apart side to side, and equal range.

Very exciting! 100% satisfied with the rocket design.

Next test will be impact/damage tests, using my launcher, under-barrel green gas launcher, and under-barrel co2 launcher. Starting with cardboard, then moving on to armored human subjects. (helmet, goggles, plate carrier, heavy pants/shirt. Then if goes well, un-armored humans)

After all this, I'll start production. No ETA or estimated cost yet.

What do you guys think?

(This pic makes the two version look different sized, they are the same size)

AEG's / S&T Tavor
« on: April 04, 2013, 11:03:59 AM »
I'm looking for somebody with an S&T Tavor TAR-21 that will let me test fit a rail on it. No modifications will be made, I simply need to unscrew the rail on the gun and see if this one I have fits on it. It will only take about 2 mins.

If you have one or know somebody who does, please let me know. :)

Auction Closed, Grats to Exarach for winning the AT4 at $300.

Charity Auction for Ron [Nil8r] Bilodeau's AT-4 Launcher

*I will be bringing this launcher to the Sasco Game 1/12/13 if anybody wants to look at it*

I was asked to refurbish and sell Ron's AT-4 LaunchIher. So here it is! I have spent about $100 refurbishing/rebuilding this AT-4 to bring it back to operation, however I will NOT be asking for any re-reimbursement for my time or money spent. Everything goes to Ron's Family!

To build this exact launcher from scratch would cost roughly $200, and it would not have the end flares like this one. These were copied from a real AT-4 via molds and 2 part rubber/silicone casting. Meaning the end flares look exactly the same as a real one. (same size too)

This launcher is constructed (from what I can tell) from ABS, PVC, and CPVC. Using a Quick Exhaust Valve to dump the chamber and fire the rocket (much more efficient and consistent than a ball valve). It uses a small red handled ball valve for a safety, to fire, simply turn the red handle to the firing position, and pull the keyring forward with your thumb. (Very easy)

It launches 2 inch Nerf Vortex Rockets or JCS F69 Rockets. (or whatever else you want to put in it that is 2" diameter)

It accepts standard 12g CO2 Cartridges or 4oz Refillable CO2 Tanks. (Standard 12g cartridge provides 1 - 2 shots depending on pressure setting)

The Velocity (and therefore range) is adjustable by changing the pressure on the regulator in the rear of the launcher.

Upon delivery of the Launcher, I will instruct the winner on it's proper use.

If you have any questions about the launcher, just post a reply and ask, I want to keep all questions public so they don't get asked twice.

    Here's the rules:
    • Be generous and courteous, remember what this whole thing is for! (RIP Nil8r)
    • The bidding will start at $180.
    • Every bid must be at least $5 higher than the previous bid.
    • Please do not bid if you have no intention of paying. You're not hurting me, you're hurting Ron's Family, who has been through enough already.
    • There will be no time limit on this auction, when no further bids have been placed for 1 week (subject to change), the Auction will close and go to the highest bidder.
    • The winner has 1 week to give the cash to either myself or Raith. If funds are not received by that time, then the runner up wins and has one week to deliver the funds. (and so on and so forth)
    How to place a bid:
    • Before your bid will be counted, you must first send me a PM with AT-4 in the subject. In the PM you must include your PHONE NUMBER and FULL NAME.
    • To place a bid, reply to this post with the amount you wish to bid.
    • You may bid as many times as you wish, however your bid must be at least $5 higher than the previous bid.

Below is a running list with the current bid at the bottom, I will update this as we go on:

Bid Amount - Bidder - Date
    $180 - TPAParadox - 1/7/13
    $185 - jdmsquadleader - 1/8/13
    $190 - TPAParadox - 1/11/13
    $200 - Exarach - 1/14/13
    $220 - CipherBlue - 1/16/13
    $250 - Exarach - 1/16/13
    $280 - CipherBlue - 1/16/13
    $300 - Exarach - 1/17/13

    Dealers/Techs / Rapid Prototyping / 3D Printing / Foam Rockets
    « on: December 26, 2012, 09:47:35 PM »
I now have my Foam Rockets for sale! 1.5inch and 2inch (40mm and 50mm)
I've been working on these for a few years and am finally happy with the final product.

The 40mm rockets are made to fit your standard grenade launcher and/or 1.5" PVC Barrels perfectly! Using a Madbull XMPB4 Grenade charged with co2, You can accurately shoot these rockets over 250ft.

The 50mm rockets are made to fit a standard 2" PVC barrel perfectly. Depending on your valve and chamber setup on your launcher, (mine is a quick exhaust valve operated launcher) you can accurately shoot these rockets over 350ft. (yep, that's right, destroy that vehicle before it even has range on you!)

Not only that, but these rockets are much more durable than others. After multiple launches and impacts, they still look and fly like new. They are very hard to tear!

    FFR-40: $5 each  ($45 for 10)
    FFR-50: $6 each  ($55 for 10)

Pictures and Video to come soon.

I recently bought a 3d Printer, for a number of reasons, and would like to make it available to the AA community.
3D printing is fairly new to the consumer market, but is growing fast. If you have an Idea for a part or item that you would normally mill/cut/dremel out of plastic, this is a great way to get that done cheaply, quickly, and precisely.

Free 3d files can be found all over the net, but a great place to start and get some ideas or just to see if anybody has already built it is here: www.Thingiverse.com

If you have something you need printed, let me know, and I'll see what I can do. Cost will vary depending on a couple different criteria, but I'm basically just charging for the material you use, plus a small amount for maintenance/up-keep costs.

If it's an awesome/unique idea/something really interesting, I might just give it to you for free. :)

My build volume is 140x140x130mm. Layer height .15 - .4mm (.05 increments). Smaller layer height is better quality, but will cost a bit more, larger layer height is less precise, but cheaper. Things tend to be a bit finicky on either end of the spectrum, I try to stay at .2 - .3mm, but I can go over all this with you when the time comes.

Models need to be delivered to me in a .stl format (stereolithography) in mm scale. ( can convert from inches for you if needed, but it is much less confusing to just stick with the metric system) The model must also be "watertight and manifold." If you've worked with modeling, you should know what this means. I will run the model through a watertight/manifold check, but the check is not always guaranteed (though I've never personally seen a false positive). If you supplied the model, and it passes the check but the print still fails, you'll need to pay for the wasted material (at cost, no markup).

Also, if any of you are familiar with 3D printing, you may like to know what printer I'm using. I'm printing on an Up! Plus+ (Afinia) 3D Printer. The printer software automatically generates excellent support systems, so any overhangs of any size are no problem. (just be aware that it will use more wasted plastic for the support structure)

I will only take the time to model the item for you if I really like the idea for something I would use. For example, if you ask me to make this really cool pistol grip for your AK47 based off this drawing you did. Not going to happen. I don't have the time for that.  But if it's something simple, I might help you out, just ask.
But if you give me a great idea, that hasn't been done before, I'll probably do what I can to model it, print it off, and give you one for free as a thank you. ;)

If you have no idea what I'm talking about so far, check my Shapeways store for ideas: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/DHCustoms

The colors and material available will change, and the price will change depending on that as well. I just got this thing, and am all out of the stock material it came with. (have been printing stuff off like crazy, tons of fun) However, I have several different materials on order, and don't mind purchasing more on an as needed basis. Again, just ask.

I will soon have Natural colored Nylon. This is still an experimental filament, but other users have had great results with quality and strength using this material. You can easily dye this to any color you want with clothing dyes. However you can not glue this material due to it being super slick. You can melt pieces together though.

I will soon have Green OEM ABS. This is a very reliable, precise, and strong ABS material.

I will soon have Olive Drab and Bright Orange 3rd Party ABS. Not sure how well this will print yet, but will find out soon.

General Airsoft Discussion / AIRSOFT NEEDS YOUR HELP! SB1315 has passed!
    « on: August 15, 2012, 03:22:48 PM »
SB1315 has passed senate and house, and is waiting to be signed into law. We need to prevent this!

Most recent draft I know of: http://www.aroundthecapitol.com/billtrack/text.html?bvid=20110SB131598AMD

Please help, follow the directions below, and please respond as MATURE and professional as possible, don't give them any more reasons to progress this bill.

    *copied from P*talk*
    Quote from: tupp9@P*Talk
If you can, please click the link, scroll down to SB1315 and click CON, and reply.

    http://gov.ca.gov/m_contact.php

    SB1315 is:
    1) Destruction of existing federal law, which is more than adequate! Law breakers should be punished for breaking the law. Should we ban cars because one irresponsible individual choose to drive under the influence? Whats next.. ban matches because someone was irresponsible and started a fire? Laws only effect the law abiding, criminals DONT OBEY THE LAW so this will have zero impact except to harm law abiding citizens!

    2) SB1315 is clear favoritism for the paint ball industry. Paintball was loosing popularity due to video games, NOT Airsoft. Airsoft is the reason thousands of young adults get out of the house on weekends. Airsoft is among the safest and the most popular sports in America today with millions of fans!

    3) SB1315 would be devastating to the already struggling California economy and jobs market. What California CANNOT afford is 500+ million in lost revenue / 2000+ jobs, loss of income to the thousands of businesses that support the industry, everything from shipping companies to office supply stores.

Accessories & Gear / Tavor Owners...
    « on: June 01, 2012, 10:43:47 PM »
I know there are a few of you out there. Wanted to get your opinion.
Ever since I got mine, I have been wishing that the top rail was longer, so I finally made one...

I made it so it completely replaces the original rail and the rear iron sight assembly. So no modifications to the gun required, just remove the rail and iron sight, then slap this in place and use the original screws. It's made of a Nylon polymer, pretty strong stuff, yet really light weight. Pretty expensive though, about $70. (ouch, but worth it to me, personally)
I think it turned out pretty good, what do you think?

I will offer them for sale if anybody is interested, just let me know.
