Location: Mt. Ord.  Approx 4 miles north along Hwy 87 just past the Bushnell Tanks turn off (Sunflower).  From there you will go 6 miles off road to the AO.  Look for a camping area to the right of the road.  The road is narrow in some spots, and a little rough in others.  It is recommended to take a truck/SUV to this AO.  Drive slowly and safely and you should be okay.

The Story:  A recent incursion by the Nation of Green across the border to the Nation of Tan has resulted in the captured of 2 Tan soldiers.  The Nation of Green wants a prisoner exchange, but the Nation of Tan will not allow a prisoner exchange and considering the situation an unreasonable act of war.  The Nation of Tan launches a full scale aerial bombardment of the border region on the Green side to limit the effectiveness of any indirect fire weapons.  This however has only a limited impact on the Nation of Green ability to launch short range missiles across the border in the the Nation of Tan.  Nation of Tan ground forces will need to me deployed across the border into the Nation of Green to destroy the ability to launch these missiles and rockets into Nation of Tan.

Tan vs. Green BDU camo patterns.  Universal pattern camo will be placed where needed for balance.  PM or email me your team preference.

All AA rules apply.  18+ only.

ROFL, I'm one of them!

Most of the time when people talk about differences at varying altitudes the first thing that comes to my mind is gravity, like how the Colorado Rockies can hit more home runs at home.

So at first when I read the post about wanting higher than 5k I was thinking it had something to do with the speed or trajectory of BBs or something like that.
Title:
Post by: Vince on August 11, 2006, 07:14:51 PM
Well, it KIND of does. Like, you'll notice chrono abberations if you ever go to OP:LC, or play in California, since we're so close to sea level here.
Title:

nvm
Title:
Post by: Uchiha Itachi on August 11, 2006, 11:38:59 PM
Air Pressure and Air Denisity.

The reason why the ball flys further is that the air is less dense and "lighter" than normal air. The same force is still applied to the ball and the force of gravity upon the ball. The only difference is the decrease of resistence due to  the lack of dense air.

While if you got closer the air would be more dense and cause the ball to fly less and fall faster due to increase resistence due to air. In both cases the same force is applied to the ball and the temp is the same. Cold Air creates more resistence and hot air creates less so adjust.

Which is also why that chronos will be thrown off. Depending on altitude, temp., and air pressure the BB's FPS will change from what you chronoed it from home.

Uhh and the higher up you are..the harder it is to breathe..Just incase no one mentioned that...Thats why alot of professional athletes train in higher altitudes..I know alot of boxers do.

Mikeyyyyy Put me as green.

I figured they just said that because 5k to them would mean some place like Prescott, I mean my ears may pop along the way, but I doubt I will notice any appreciable difficulty in breathing there, than I do in Phoenix.
Title:
Post by: Major Buttnuts on August 12, 2006, 11:12:07 PM
Hey, when you sweat all day workin new construction, the last thing you want to do is run around in the valley heat for fun.  At least the higher altitude makes it tollorable.
Title:
Post by: Mooncruiser on August 13, 2006, 01:00:03 AM
Really though, five thousand feet isn't gonna cause any real distress breathing. Now, eight to fourteen thousand, however.

Prescott, 5k.. Flag, eight.

Cooler, more fun.

List me as Tan since they seem to be outnumbered, but I should be able to go Green if needed.

Please be at the Ba'ja Conoco READY TO LEAVE at 0700, 26AUG.

Dan & Benn :

Follow Chris :)

Off the top of my head, I-10 to AZ-143 NORTH (that's way important unless you wanna take a tour of the airport) to AZ-202 EAST to AZ-87 NORTH.

Double check that but I am pretty sure that's the best way.

Only thing the alititude is going to affect really is your ability to recover from exhausting your lungs. You can sprint like a mo-fo, but once you start to try and recover the oxygen used, it takes a bit longer. On distance runs, the altitude can kick your ass(and your skins ass if you don't wear sunscreen).

Oh, just thought of something: if the road to the AO is pretty rough, my dinky Saturn's probably not going to appreciate it. Is there somewhere along the way I can leave it and hop in with someone who has a more rugged vehicle?
When everyone meets at the gas station we'll be able to see who can hitch rides and whatnot.

Damn, I stopped by the Tempe JT today to get some Excel biodegradeables, but they told me they'd sold out of them for Lion Claws. Can I get away with using the freebie BB's I got with my gun or does anyone have some extras they can sell me?

I'm in the same boat. I ordered some BBs, but I'm not sure if they're biodegradable or not.

Its a black tree stump, with a black knife, and its a CRKT, he can go back in a month and get it and it will be just fine, take it apart, lube it, and put it back together, will work just as good.

Great game, lots of fun, learned many valuable lessons.

1) don't forget you wallet
2) sunflower doesn't have a gas station
3) camelbak hoses suck for siphoning gas
4) david and vince are great guys

Great AO, props to whoever found it.  I'd gladly drive back for more games.

I'm not as sore as I am sunburnt, but I guess that serves me right for not getting out of the house more often.

Great AO, good fights and tactics all day. Green did a great job keeping us on our toes. I'm sorry to all those I shot in the face this game there were 10 or 12 of you but I gotta take what targets are presented to me. For those that camped thanks for showing up and for the night games, no moon and dark as #$%@.

Good Times!!!

On green we had some really good leaders, Mikey and Drew.  Both of those guys kicked a$s.

As far as the camelback hoses and gas...do tell.

I can tell my part...

I had a hydrastorm pack for quite a while and was never used. So I pulled out the bladder and filled it up, only to find that it had a huge hole in it, so it was a total loss.

Later Vince asked if he could have the hose. I figured I'd get a new hose when I buy a new bladder anyway, so I let him have it.

Anyway, I'm not really good at remembering names, since I met just about everyone for the first time, but someone's car was almost out of gas, and they tried to use my hose to siphon gas out of other cars so they could get the car back to the gas station.

There was no puking (damn!) but I guess the hose wasn't long enough for it to work.

I did manage to inhale a lot of gasoline fumes with that hose, my lungs felt like shit the next morning.

Driving by the "town" of sunflower on the way to the game and seeing that it wasnt really a town and didnt have a gas station was a pretty big "F*CK!" moment.
