I wish they made the AWP from CS. The Deagles they make now suck, they should make cooler ones! And.. my airsoft Colt kicks ass, so.. no problem there!

*sigh*  Please learn to use the proper name.  For your information a "Deagle" is the result of the cross-breeding of a Doberman and a Beagle.  Now, while you ponder the mechanics of that union, think about how much you never want to say "Deagle" again.  As far as the AWP goes, I don't remember who was talking about it, but someone mentioned they have an L96 (FarFromEinstein perhaps?), but they do exist.  I believe Asahi used to make a gas L96 back in the day in addition to the conversions that exist now.  As far the Desert Eagles go, the Marui hard kick is supposed to be pretty decent, have you tried that one?

Are you going for the WW1 look? Good luck finding people doing WW1 games.

Raith's questions- Maybe, Yes, Yes, Maybe

I like busta's idea of multiple types- including one for our hats, which everyone now owns after LC4.

+1, though I like the current design.  I'd have to see the new design before making any decisions about it.

Nick, just watch this video : http://www.xcalibertactical.com/images/ ... Hi-Res.mov

Lol... what does that prove?  A $5000 vulcan hardly counts as an airsoft gun.   If you check their site, you'll see that version is for plinking (their airsoft version shoots 460 fps with regular airsoft BBs, still painful, but not deadly). Comparably, a $50 air rifle used for plinking can be just as lethal.

I agree Las that airsoft guns should be handled and treated like weaponry, but I don't think the worst case scenario is the best way to make that argument.  I think the regulations we have in place are more than enough as is.  In the case of this specific law, they went too far.  The wielding of guns or lookalikes is already legislated.  Punish the kid, but don't do a knee-jerk making airsoft illegal (which they quickly remedied).

The slower BB guns put out 3-5 ft-lbs of energy.  You need to achieve 350fps/106m/s with a .177 BB in order for it to be considered dangerous.  That's over 4J of energy, about 3-4x what most airsoft guns shoot.  Considering this is for target BB guns, any BB/pellet gun meant for hunting needs considerably more energy to be lethal to small game.   Consider that one of the highest velocities capable on an airsoft gun is 600 fps on the WA-2000 (an extremely rare GAS gun).  Even at that, the energy output is only 3.3J.  You see where I'm going with this?  To acheive 3.3J with a spring is nigh on impossible and only high end sniper rifles are even capable of getting close, but you're looking to spend a ton of money even getting there.  To acheive a lethal terminal velocity with that muzzle veolcity, you'd have to do a point blank shot.  Why go to all this trouble when BB guns are readily obtainable and less of a hassle and already shooting hot enough?  I just don't get why you're arguing the lethality of an airsoft gun since it's such a a rarity/improbability and not as simple as "some idiot loading copper BB's".  If we're gonna talk sheer possibility here, it's probably more likely you'll get struck by lightning in the field or impale yourself on your gun.  And real steel at an airsoft game is a completely unrelated issue since 99% of the time we chrono beforehand.  If someone is so intent on harming people, airsoft is more of a hassle than its worth.  Are you trying to argue how lethal airsoft is?

since some idiot somewhere is bound to load up his/her AEG with copper BBs and kill someone else (We all know it's very possible)

I hope you're being sarcastic...

To achieve a sufficient velocity in any normal airsoft gun for a smaller and heavier BB (such as copper/steel .177) is near impossible. Not only would a hypothetical 6mm copper BB have no range, it would still leave with the same muzzle energy, severely damaging its momentum.  Metal coated BB's already exist for high end sniper rifles and you're more than welcome to use them in your AEG, but you won't be able to hit a thing.  Even if you get a smaller diameter barrel and greatly increase the power, you're looking at tons of upgrades that a) the gun probably cant' stand for more than a few shots and b) will take tons of time and money.  Putting that much time and effort into your airsoft gun is ridiculous especially since you could just buy a regualr C02 BB gun anywhere for like $20... I don't know what fool is going to take the hundreds necessary to get an airsoft gun to the equivalent of a normal BB gun.  I think BB's present more of a choking hazard than anything...

I don't know why you guys bash TM so much... I probably have one of only a few guns still in use  from way back, before AA really started.

Enter almost 5 year old TM M16A2.  The mechbox got nearly a complete overhaul (minus the box itself, gears, and all electrical).  The only other modifications were a systema metal body (A3 style) and a reinforced outer barrel.   Ok, so not much of it is still TM, but the beast has seen well over 45,000 rounds (and no, I'm not BSing, I owned a C-Mag for awhile) and still works like a charm.  I was very diligent in my maintenance, though.  For those that complain about body construction, I love my G36K.  Minus internals (gears still original) and the K kit, it's all TM and it's a beast as well.  Ak's also are incredibly solid and durable too, so saying that TM's suck isn't very true at all, especially if you're going to upgrade internals anyway.  However, a metal body is pretty significant motivating factor for some people and your money is probably much better spent on getting something that has it included, rather than shelling out 150+ for an aftermarket.

CAG D even used Axe body spray in his pistol mag.

WTF?  I don't know if I want to know the story behind that.  Was he trying deodorize as he took out his opponents?

Apparently:

"ASMOAIRSOFT.COM IS SHUTTING DOWN.  THIS CLOSURE WILL TAKE EFFECT ON JUNE 10th, 2005. Thank you for a good run of it.

From their website.  It looks like we'll have to get Delta to make us a nice schematic of the mechanism so we can replicate the design. Delta you interested?

Got it set up for July 5th. We'll be there from 5pm-on. They said they close at 9, but if there's a good game going, will stay open longer.
No orange barrel thingies, as it's a private field.
Use own guns, ammo, anything goes.
See website for details.
See you there!
Chip

Did they give you an FPS limit?  I wasn't able to find one anywhere.  When you say "no orange barrel thingies" do you mean we don't need 'em?  That contradicts what's on their website in my opinion.

Well, the only other local option was this place called the "Cajun House".  Paco got us a deal there a while back where we got to each pay about $10-15 each (total) and we got to use their facilities for about 4-5 hours.  It's a Pohoenix nightclub that's laid out with a cobblestone street leading to the main stage, with rows of building facades on both sides that serve as bars when it's open.  Plus, on one side, it was two stories, so, though it wasn't quite an office building, it did offer an interesting environment.   I think the best part was the creative scenarios that we tried.  We had some escort/assassination scenarios, we had a north hollywood robbery scenario, and we did a bunch of other CTF-type games.  We did ahve to clean up the BBs afterwards, but with a few brooms and shop-vacs, it was pretty easy.  I dont' remember the exact turnout, but I seem to think it was around 25.  I believe StoneagleWolf (Mark) also used the same facility at some point, so if people are up for cqb and the cajun house is still willing, I think that would be a much better option since it eliminates driving, etc.  Another CQB environment we used is called "The Ranch", which was a collection of abandoned ranch houses, but I'm not sure what the status of that land is.  Plus, since it's abandoned and in the middle of the desert, it's really hot, though I always have a great time playing there.  If it came down tot choosing, I'd pick the cajun house over swathouse, but like I said, I may be up there anyway, and will probably at least go for an hour or two with my pistol.

One thing that strikes me as odd is that there are no mentions of fps that I saw and they seem to make a big deal about removing orange barrel paint.  Do they even allow outside guns?

Edit:  My point of comparison for SWAT house is the numerous facilities in the UK that combine buildings and outdoor environments (none of which I have experienced firsthand, unfortunately).  Perhaps an unfair comparison due to the popularity of airsoft there.  I agree completely Flash - if they had lights and motion sensors and things it would be really cool, but as far as I can tell, they don't, and they just use a maze of plywood walls with minimal furniture at the swat house.

Hmm... after watching the video, I don't think I'd pay $10/hr for that, let alone drive out there.  If I do end up in vegas that weekend, I may bring a pistol and go in civies just for a casual shoot-out but I definitely don't think I'd haul all my crap up to vegas to play glorified speedball.  It's a shame... with that space they have so much potential, but it looks like (from the videos) that it just turns into speedball with airsoft guns.  I'll let you know a litle closer to the date, but I'm not sure yet.  Do you think there's any chance they'd give a discount?

Where are the video clips? I can't seem to find them.

For the price of $10/hr for simple wooden frames, I'd rather do the Cajun House again (is that deal still available Paco?).  There at least is a real building, and IIRC, it was a lot cheaper per person.  Plus you'd probably get a better turnout.

As for the SWAT house, if they give us a group rate that would be awesome, though I'd probably fly up anyway on a free ticket, so I'm saving the cost of driving, which may be prohibitive for others.  In fact, I may be up there anyway at that time, so if you do plan on going, let me know. However, as a group trip, I don't know if most can (or want to) justify the long trip for only a few hours of rather expensive play.  Heck, Lion Claws is $130 for about 16 hours of gameplay along with the huge AO, camping, and indepth scenarios.  If I'm not gonna be up there as is, I think I'd have to get at least 8-10 hours of play in (probably over 2 days), but that's gonna be $100 without even taking into account spending the night and getting there.

Again, I like the idea and would join you personally since I don't have to worry about getting there, I just worry how many will be willing to make the trek unless we can camp (or stay the night cheaply) and get a discounted rate on play.
