What about the chance that death wasn't what she wanted? It was not a right to death case as that requires extensive legal documentation that was not present. The only "evidence" of her wishing to die was her husband's words. Given his situation it would seem he had some ulterior motives, though no one can really say that conclusively. In the absence of any real evidence stating that she wanted to die, I think the impetus is on the ones wanting her death to prove that she did. Her family just wanted to take care of her, so try to think about it from that perspective. What harm is there in letting her live?
The bottom line here is that a)none of us can or will know the whole story, b) she was not PVS (as evaluated by numerous doctors) and c) the government should have had no part in killing her via judicial homicide. Judges apparently exist to push their own agendas in the modern world and I think it's a horrible tragedy that the matter at hand was really that after the feeding tube was removed the courts couldn't act fast enough to overturn the previous rulings and her life got ended by bureaucracy. Sure, any info you find will be biased one way or the other, but go to terrisfight.org if you want to see some of the myths about Terri and the case.
Also, it is ridiculous to say that she should die since her life holds nothing for her since we have no way of really knowing what it's like internally given how she is physically. Consciousness is one of the least understood phenomena in existence, snap judgements about what it must be like for her are ill-advised at best and sheer idiocy more likely. Also, Reaver, MRI's are a structural brain imaging technique that are used to evaluate extent of physical damage which in no way deals with what part of the brain a person is currently using (or in other words, are not functionally based). I imagine you mean fMRI's? Do you have a source for this information? I'm a student of neuroscience at Stanford and I would be very interested to see any kind of fMRI data on her.
