Site Suggestions / Auction?
« on: February 20, 2004, 06:57:38 PM »
Paco (or the other Moderators):

What about adding an "auction" style selling system to the forum? I don't know if this has ever been addressed before (I did a search and came up w/ nothing), and I am not suggesting replacing our normal classifieds section. But it would be kinda fun to auction off something amongst ourselves before putting it on ebay.

In fact, I have no idea if this is even feasable. But it was a thought! [:D]

This poll will conclude Round 1 of the AA Forum favorite military/war movie. I will let the polls run a few more days, then compile the top 2 or 3 from each poll to start having a run-off. We will eventually get down to a Number One!

I decided that I will take the top 2 or 3 from each poll, and create new polls, like quarter finals! Then semi finals...down to the Official AA Forum Favorite!

AEG's / Charger vs. battery MAH relation
« on: September 05, 2003, 11:45:02 AM »
John,
I searched, but could not find it and I know you have told me this, but what was that formula for charging batteries again? Something to do w/ the voltage, and the MAH rate. I will write it down this time!! Thanks bud!

General Off-Topic Discussion / My real steel sniper rifle
« on: August 26, 2003, 11:47:46 AM »
Here is my real steel sniper rifle with Kyle Russle's gorgeous desert camo paint job!

It is a Ruger M77 MkII VLE (Varmint/Law Enforcement) in .308 Win. It has the laminate wood stock, but it had the wide beaver-tail forestock (which I don't like), so I took a hand plane to it and made it more traditional. The laminate stock has no checkering, so I textured it w/ some of that 'Stone fleck' paint. The scope is the Tasco Super Sniper mil dot 10 x 42 which the Navy Seals use on their M14 Sniper rifle. The Tasco Super Sniper is the overruns of that government contract. The cheek rest is made by Eagle Industries and straps onto the buttstock via three 1" velcro straps. It has some black synthetic suede of some sort that I really like. It hold 5 rounds on the other side, and has a zipper pouch for whatever. I liked the Eagle Ind. version over Blackhawk's. The suede stuff feels better than the vinyl on the Blackhawk variant and the quality seems to be a notch higher.

Overall, I am VERY pleased with Kyle's paint job. He is REALLY good! The gun is accurate as heck. I get 2-2.5" groups at 250 yds. That is MOA accuracy or better, and that is using my tailgate as a benchrest! If I go prone w/ sandbags, I'm sure it will do sub-MOA.

OK guys, here is my ghillie suit as it nears completion. Sorry about the poor photography. I need to finish the part that will attach to my pants, then I'm done...sorta! I think this will be a work in progress for a long time!

Hey guys, My dad emailed the following to me, and it really moved me. I though I'd share it with you:

The following speech was given by British Army Lt. Colonel Collins, to his men on the eve of battle in Iraq. With all due respect to our
American Public Education system, it's a pep talk that not one in ten thousand could equal.
 ----------------------------------
 22 March 2003

With one phrase, Lt. Colonel Tim Collins, commander of the 1st Battalion of the Royal Irish, summed up the task in hand for the British forces waiting to remove Saddam Hussein from Iraq. Collins was addressing his 800 men, an arm of Britain's 16 Air Assault Brigade, at Fort Blair Maine, Kuwaiti desert camp 20 miles south of the Iraqi border. Here is as much of his extraordinary speech as has been reported:

"We go to liberate not to conquer. We will not fly our flags in their country. We are entering Iraq to free a people and the only flag which will be flown in that ancient land is their own. Show respect for them.

There are some who are alive at this moment who will not be alive shortly. Those who do not wish to go on that journey, we  will not send. As for the others, I expect you to rock their world. Wipe them  out if that is what they
choose. But if you are ferocious in battle, remember to be magnanimous in victory. Iraq is steeped in history. It is the site of  the Garden of Eden, of the Great Flood and the birthplace of Abraham. Tread lightly there.

You will see things that no man could pay to see and you will have to go a long  way to find a more decent, generous and upright people than the Iraqis. You  will be embarrassed by their hospitality even though they have nothing. Don't  treat them as refugees for they are in their own country. Their children will be poor.

In years to come, they will know that the light of liberation in their lives was brought by you. If there are casualties of war, then
remember that when they woke up and got dressed in the morning they did not plan to die this day. Allow them dignity in death. Bury them properly and mark their graves.

It is my foremost intention to bring every single one of you out alive, but there may be people among us who will not see the end of this campaign. We will put them in their sleeping bags and send them back. There will be no time for sorrow.

The enemy should be in no doubt that we are his nemesis and that we are bringing about his rightful destruction. There are many Iraqi
commanders who have dark stains on their souls... And they are stoking the fires
of hell for Saddam. He and his forces will be destroyed by this coalition for what they have done. As they die, they will know their deeds have brought them to this place.

Show them no pity. It is a big step to take another human life. It is not to be done lightly. I know of men who have taken life needlessly in other conflicts, I can assure you they live with the mark of Cain upon them.

If someone surrenders to you then remember they have that right under international law and ensure that one day they go home to their
family. The ones who wish to fight, well, we aim to please.

If you harm this regiment or its history by over-enthusiasm in killing or in cowardice, know it is your  family who will suffer. You will be shunned unless your conduct is of the highest, for your deeds will follow you down through history.

We will bring shame on neither our uniform nor our nation. As for ourselves, let's bring everyone home and leave Iraq a better place
for us having been there.

Gentlemen, our business now is to the North."

AEG's / Sig 550 upgrades
« on: March 24, 2003, 01:13:56 PM »
<font face="Arial Black"></font id="Arial Black"><font size="6"></font id="size6"><font size="6"></font id="size6"><font color="black"></font id="black">
OK guys. I've got this Sig 550. And I like the gun a lot, but I want to make some upgrades, and need some recomendations. First off, the battery. It's got the AK style mini, but I'd like to get more longevity. The darn thing just goes out too fast. Second (after shooting that MP5 that I bought from Kyle), it seems like the stock motor (is this the right term?) cycles slowly. It just seems like from the time I pull the trigger til the time the BB leaves the muzzle is a looong time. What can I do to improve this gun (other than buy a new one!)?
