Ive been to the one in Ocean Side (Near Carlsbad) And they seemed pretty cool. I would ask 'azsarge' about painting. He can, once again, make a Mona Lisa out of OD, Tan, and green!

Well I would recomend Legs to paint it for you, I have only heard and seen a few guns painted by him and they were all great reviews.   But you live in California, you still could ship it to him probally if you wanted and if he accepted.  I dont know anything about any stores near you that do custom paint jobs.  You could always try your hand at a paint job, but then you may suffer the consequences, lol.  Good Luck.

Nothing wrong with a good ol' flat coat of OD or tan... very distinctive, cheap and easy!

I second Legs on the paint job.  He does out standing work, but it will cost you.  Send him a PM and see what he has to say.

I have to aggree with Kami, nothing wrong with using flat desert tan and OD.  You can pick them up at an army surplus store for 4.00 a can.  Remove or tape over what you don't want to paint,  I suggest using the tan as a base coat, then stripe or blotch it OD.  I practiced on a 2X2 piece of wood first.  You can even highlight the OD with some flat black, for a shadow effect.  I really suggest you practice a few times first.  By doing it your self, you can personalize it and have pride in the fact that it is "yours".  Good luck.

You can buy Krylon Ultraflat CAMO colors at WalMart for 1.97 a can.  They work great, and are quite durable.

50 bux?  That is absolute robbery!  Try it yourself first for 2 bux, and if you screw it up, then consider giving your liver to AEX.  But try it first.

I agree. Its not that hard to paint your stuff.... the hardest part is deciding to do it[:P].

Or worrying about getting it right once you start... I've probably messed up some paint jobs because I overthought it too much.

Absolutely right!  Practice makes perfect.  other than that, just let it flow.  Solid colors are hard to screw up, though.

Painting AK-47
« Reply #13 on: November 18, 2003, 10:58:48 PM »
hey everybody, i decided to register for this forum because it seemed like it was a pretty nice and did not answer the stupid which gun questions... and i did do a search on this (painting guns) and came up with one answer, in the equipment section i think... but it did not totally answer my question... i was just wondering if maybe stores like jungletoy, or combat quarters did those type of things, or you have to do it yourself, because im not a very good painter [:D]... my second question is whether or not the jungletoy store in torrance, or upland is any good (california) yet not many people would most likely be able to answer this question... since this is arizona forum, hehe o well worth a try... but i did notice people from other states, so please answer if you can! thanks all
