General Off-Topic Discussion / Attempted Car Jacking
« on: July 25, 2006, 10:34:52 PM »
No, it was not me

But my coworkers wife was working at a donation store, they sell donated items and the proceeds go to the battered women fund. Anyways her boss was confronted as she got out of her car in front of the store by 5 men, 3 carrying an AK variant.  They were wearing shorts, t-shirts and bandanas, like a bunch of desperados. My coworkers wife was inside the store, saw what was happening and called 911 and her husband. My coworker dropped what he was doing and rushed over there as he was close by. They had fled by the time he got there as the police arrived.

What was scary was that this was on a major road, Yuma, where she was parking her car on the side street parking zone.  This store is also 300ft from the Police Station, which tells me that these guys were definately from out of town   They were caught about 10 mins later at a nearby park, right next to an elementry school. I think they were having a hard time concealing their AK's  and an officer called in for backup
This may be gang related as they were flashing signs when they were trying to car jack the car.

At first I thought, oh no, they probally used some cheap airsoft guns. But minutes after they were caught, I learned that they were indeed real Ak's and were fully loaded. Don't know if they had them chambered or not though, but goes to show that anything can happen anywhere.

I was just watching C-Span and they are talking about how Troops in Iraq have been exposed to water illnesses. A medical Captain believed that many of the troops that entered her facility had been exposed to untreated water some how.  A Halliburton employee who is responsible for treating the camps water supply came to the capt. and expressed concerns that the brine water from the Reverse Osmosis systems were being used to fill up water tanks for the bases use.  The capt. assigned an Lt. to follow the brine pipe line where he found the line exited into a water truck. He followed the water truck, where he found it pumped the brine water into a water holding tank for nonpotable use. The captain confronted the supervisor for Halliburton and he told her that the brine water had be previously treated by a carbon filter and that it was acceptable.  The captain basically told him he was full of s***.  Later they tested the tank and found it to test positive for e-coli and bacteria.

As a water operator I am very appualed. First off these are our soldiers out there and they only deserve the best.  And what happened to the military providing for themselves instead of having private contractors doing supply work?  Streamlined I guess.   My major issue is that who decided that nonpotable water was safe enough to use for showering, brushing teeth, and making coffee as it was stated in this C-Span report?  Nonpotable means you dont use it for anything that will come into contact with people.  Fill your radiator, mix concrete, ect. but do not wash with it or much less put it in your mouth or eyes!   In my job I work on many things and one such thing is a Reverse Osmosis system.  We send our Brine or reject water into the sewer system to then be treated at a wastewater plant.  You can not use this stuff for much of anything and Halliburton said it was ok to use for showering!  Sorry but this crap really gets under my skin. I have had experience with private water companies and they are only in it for the money and will try to do the absolute minimum required of them.  Anything to save a few bucks [smilie=armata_pdt_19.gif]

P.S. and Halliburton is responsible for all water supplies for soldiers in Iraq! There are many more places with soldiers who have related illnesses!

For those who are playing this game at the moment you can post your info here. Such as who your trying to meet up with, getting revived, stratagies and such.

Well, I just leveled up 2 levels in 43 moves!  Now I just need to re-arm and then I can start heading out to you Ian, or are you still trying to make it to me?  My place is pretty nice. I got steady pistol mags coming in at a PD and then I go out to town to blast some zombies.  My PD so far is far enough away from the action not to warrant too many attacks that I have seen so far.

« on: February 20, 2006, 06:46:12 PM »
Man I miss 101.5 The Zone.  Didn't care for Howard in the mornings but everything else rocked.  I guess when Howard left he took some people with him or something.  Because now this new station 101.5 Free Fm has really been getting on my nerves.  All they do all day is frickin talk, and I mean all frickin day!  I want my music, anyone else feel the way I do? I never really realized how much I had listened to the Zone until it was gone

General Airsoft Discussion / FogTech
« on: September 09, 2005, 01:56:45 PM »
I am going to try this antifog product out for OP Irene.  Ed (Victor3) tried this out for LC IV and said he never had a fogging problem.  I ordered a 30 oz bottle from http://www.fogtech.ca/home.htm   I ordered it on Aug. 25th and still had not received it yet.  So I emailed IATC Enterprises.  I got a response within 30 mins! They said that I should have received it by now and so they are going to send me another bottle post haste so I have in time for the OP.  I am very impressed with this company!  Once I have a chance to try the product out I will write a small reveiw on how it performed.

General Off-Topic Discussion / Fire in the Sky
« on: August 23, 2005, 10:09:29 PM »
Did any one see those three lights South West of the Valley tonight?   I just saw them as I was almost home tonight at about 9:50pm  They were set in a configuration where the middle one was the highest in the sky and the second highest was to the west of the middle one and the third highest was to the east of the middle one.  Well they were very low on the horizon, I thought they were towers of some kind but then remembered never seeing any towers up on the Estrella Mountains before.  Plus the main factor was these points.  They were a steady orangish-yellow light, reminded me of what a street light looks like at a distance.  A tower would have a red flashing or steady becon on it for planes.  The next thing which is the very oddest thing I have seen, was that the middle one dissapeared.  It was like something moved infront of the light from left to right.  Then 5 seconds later the left one did the same, and followed by the 3rd one. What was that all about?

General Off-Topic Discussion / Send your Prayers
« on: March 18, 2005, 06:08:17 PM »
No responses are neccesary here but you can if you feel inclined.

A co-worker of mine just lost his life in a tragic car accident this past Wednesday. His name is Jerry Durbin and He worked as part of our Water team in the City of Goodyear.  He was in charge of Water Quality and was a very outgoing and funny guy.  In a few words, Good hearted is what sums him up best.  I just ask for people to pray for his two little boys 6, and 7 years old who were in the vehicle with him.  They survived with no damage, but except for a cut on the oldest boy, as they were secured in their seatbelts.  His life revolved around his kids as they were on their way to T-ball practice.  The kids do not have many relatives left and will be taken in by Jerry's brother and sister in-law.  Jerry will be sorely miss by us all at our Department and by those he knew.  Again no response is neccesary, I just ask for people's prayer's for Jerry's boys and family after this tragic accident.  Thanks.

Scroll down to the 6th story.

I am just in awe of these 4 soldiers for their attitudes and  I am very proud to have men and women out there representing us with these kinds of attitudes. Thank you for your dedication, service, for the protection of our way of life and for extending those inalienable rights to others through out the world.

EDIT:  I also want to commend their very supportive and strong families who stand with their loved ones.

General Off-Topic Discussion / !!!Dentist Drilled on nearby good tooth!!!
« on: January 08, 2005, 10:21:32 PM »
I just got a worn filling replaced and a entirely new filling in another tooth. My right side hurt after the novacaine wore off, I thought it was just because it was sore and would go away after a day or so.  Now after a few days of my right side hurting when eating I isolated the aching tooth to the tooth next to the one he filled!  It has a divit in it!  This sucks because they will probally just say that I broke my tooth on something.  What is this world coming too?  Do I need to take pictures of before and after for everything that I do now?  The dentist should have known he slipped onto another tooth and should of fixed it right there and then.  But he didnt so this is why I feel they won't fix it when I talk to them on Monday.  This ticks me off!  GRRRR!!!

Just relieving some due stress.  Aslo buying a house and the mortgage company is sure cutting it close!  They need to get their act together or Im going to have some heads!  Its insane that you have to baby some people inorder for them to do their job that you are paying for them to do!
