I got an M1!
« on: September 10, 2006, 04:41:28 PM »
I love this thing...almost all of the parts are WWII original. The stock, is in AWESOME condition. And this thing fires like a beast. Thanks Dave for showing me the power of .30 caliber a long time ago.

WOW, that's really cool. How's that metal "cling!" at the end when you shoot it? I'm kind of jealous right now :)

In my opinion there is no more sound that I enjoy more than hearing the clip clang out at the end. Oooh. I have video footage of it. I'll try and get it up ASAP.

No. It came straight from the government armory as a fully original, fully functional weapon.

Good choice, M1's are one of my favorite guns too shoot, especially when you hear that ping in the end.

I'm not much of a real steel expert, but is it just me or does the M1 resemble the M14?

I'm guessing the M14 is simply the modern model of the M1.

Am I anywhere close to being correct??

That's cool -- which club did you join to get that from CMP (I'm assuming from 'government armory' you mean Civilian Marksmanship)? I am looking to get my FFL 03 and join Garand Collectors and get myself one before they get too scarce.
