I'll be there for Saturday, maybe for Friday if I can round up some camping gear.

For those coming from the Valley, I think it might be faster to get there via the 87 thru Payson.

Ive played a couple games with these guys. They dun know their guns from their gear. I imagine this will be a repeat of that tucson game.

Sounds like a sore subject... Maybe that will just make it easier to shoot them??

lol, I thought his comment was a joke, since it was so innocuous and lacked any real punch.

I'll be at the game, the AO looks nice and it sounded interesting when it was explained to me.

Actually Veritas, this is a sore subject because I personally know that A: he wasn't even at Tucson, B: he came from my team and recently disowned us so this is his petty way of trying to look dumber by trying to give our new game the shaft. In any event, obviously I will be there, because I believe in the people on my team and look forward to more airsoft, less drama.

If there's one thing I've learned in all my years on the net, it's to not trust everything I read.

I want to go. The question I have to pose to myself, is if my sorry behind is wants to attempt to survive the cold  :?

What to Expect At this Game:

-A Long Day of Military Simulation
-Missions thrown in on top of a "Push Point" style game play (See Below for Explanation)
-Great Camping
-Lots of Action

The Push Point scenarios idea originates from the Battlefield series video games.  If you've never played Battlefield it is a system of flags of capturable bases.  Each Base is denoted by a Pole with a Red and Blue End on it and a notepad and pen.  To Capture the point you must flip the pole over to your team's colors then open up the notepad and write down your Team Color, and the Time of Capture.  Your score will be determined by how long you hold the Push Point and how well you accomplish the missions.  So you can expect a full day of action packed fun!

What to Bring:
Sleeping Equipment
Cold Weather Equipment
Rain Gear
FOOD
WATER
Guns Batteries and Ammo
Goggles

We all hope to see you out at this game!  Its going to be a blast and we have some rocking missions planned out for you guys.  Please come ready to play a game of NON STOP Playing.  Thats right Gameplay wont stop except for meals so make sure your ready!  You can take ammo, gas and all that jive with you on the field so bring it and sink your heals into some awesome gameplay!
Title:
Post by: infinitydragon11 on December 26, 2006, 03:03:18 PM
also we are going to be playing constantly. no down time like usual. so make sure you bring chargers and inverters or at least extra batteries. the whole idea is to give it a true milsim feel. fighting through the night trying to organize defenses and attacks.... cant wait!!!

Can we get a correction to the original post?

Listing the days and dates, the errors are somewhat confusing.

I'm assuming this is a Saturday-Sunday event, seeing as though the 27th and 28th are specified, but Friday and Saturday are mentioned.

Not everyone reads the whole thread. If the first post is wrong people will be confused. That's why I was alluding to the fact that the original post should be edited to reflect what's actually going on.

What's the scoop on fire restrictions up there?
Title:
Post by: Veritas on January 09, 2007, 05:11:06 PM
According to:

http://gacc.nifc.gov/swcc/information/f ... ons_az.htm (http://gacc.nifc.gov/swcc/information/firerestrictions/az/restrictions_az.htm)

There shouldn't be any restrictions. (The maps are kinda hard to read, and I'm not overly familiar with the area.)

Title: sounds great.
Post by: LOG on January 10, 2007, 01:57:07 PM
This sounds great. I'm a noobie trying to get into the hobby, after having small skirmishes with a friend who moved away about a week later leaving me hanging. I'd strongly like to go to this event, however work will most likely get in the way (unless I can switch nights; doubtful  :( ).

Some concerns would include:

-Carpool from the valley, perhaps?

-And, not having ever done this in quite awhile, nor camping since being diagnosed, would a small lunchbox sized cooler with cooling packs be safe out there to hold a single vial of insulin?surely it'd be able to fit into a backpack or something, but I guess i'm asking if it's usually rough out there. (since it' a nightly only thing, perhaps just enough for saturday night, and have my ride show up with Sunday's dosage?)

Also, as being new, i've read up on guns/gear etc, yet still am not clear as to what would be best, if anyone would care to help out a noob/listen/share some of my ideas, please send me a PM.

So officially, this is a 50% chance of being able to show up, Just need to talk it over with the boss.

I would also be interested in going if someone has a ride/space for gear and depending on the desired departure time. I am also happy to chip in for gas.

my brother is diabetic also, i think that if you just put it in a small pack with an ice pack, it'll stay plenty cold. if not we'll have extra ice in our coolers. i would'nt count on a ride for your second dose, jus bring it with. as far as guns and gear... it's mostly prefrence, from my experience, anything tokyo marui and classic army will be a good quality buy. i have a m15 a4, find out what is your style and best fits your function, like something with range, short range. quiet... etc and then go with what looks good to you.

Right, I realized how stupid that'd be almost immediately after posting, but couldn't edit as I had to go to work. The way it's looking, I need to talk to the boss man about switching days to get sat + sun off, and finding a ride as the P.O.S. Buick probably couldn't make it, sadly.

As for brands and such I've read much about TM being a good brand, but getting one would be an issue. I've kinda been procastinating when it comes to using banks, and pay for everything in cash. (So unless someone has one in the valley they'd be offering to sell, i'm kinda screwed for now). Although odds are i'll end up getting the SL8 (MGB) at JT i've been waiting to arrive, and a TM when I can (seems I'll be putting lots of cash into this hobby, as the others anyhow).

Thanks again,

Alrighty I'd just like to post up since we are getting close that this game will be starting at 10:00 AM on Saturday so plan your trip accordingly to arrive before 10:00 AM.  Remember to bring food, drinks (Preferebly water).  At 10:00 AM we'll go over the rules, safety, notes about the area, and general info and we hope to be playing by 10:30.  From 10:30 the games will go until sunday monring around noon.

If it matters to anyone here is what I'll be bringing to give you an idea of what to bring.

-Gear Guns, Ammo, Batteries
-FULL SEAL GOGGLES (Not shooting glasses)
-Food
-Water (Alot, probably several gallons)
-Car
-Sleeping Gear (Blankets and Pillow, however I dont plan on bringing them on field)
-Toothpaste, Contacts Stuff other toiletries
-Cell Phone and charger
-Calculator
-Extra Socks
-Rain Gear

Right now in Prescott (which is almost exactly due west of the site) is around 62 consistently.  It will be a little chilly so bring some decently warm clothes.

Since it looks like it hasn't been asked, what's the condition of the roads to get to the AO? What type of vehicles will and will not be able to make it?

Also, how far is it from the nearest convenience store/gas station?
Title:
Post by: yammie r6s on January 11, 2007, 09:34:43 PM
off of the highway there is a dirt road you take for about a quarter of a mile, we will put up a sign at the entrance through the gate. i wouldn't think anything has changed much since the last time we were up there. cars should be fine, and for the calculators... it's not a requirement, it just makes things easier, i'm not the math type of person, although it's just adding, we'll probably collect the stop watches and have one person tally up the time for each team.
Title:
Post by: infinitydragon11 on January 11, 2007, 10:01:52 PM
yeah, the AO isnt all that bad when it comes to getting to it. the roads are all part of the national forest so they are usually pretty well maintained. once you leave the highway it really isnt all that far to the campsites so even if the roads are bad its not but a short walk from a place that you could park a car at. i drove a honda accord out to the site last time i went and a civic the first time i went to scout it out.

I got permission from the boss to go for the whole weekend.

I'm coming from Queen Creek and I've got plenty of room if people need a ride. I'd prefer people in the east/central part of the valley. Just send me a pm and we can work on it. Even if you're a bit further away and you need a ride just shoot me a pm... I'll take a look and at the worst just say no... so it can't hurt.

The game is a battlefield style game play (With flag bases) but with some pretty awesome missions thrown in on top of the flag bases.  I will be going more indepth on whats going to happen at the beginning of the day.  If you track me down sometime after you come we can get you situated with a team and give you the basic run down of whats going on :)

I hope everyone plans to be there around 10:00 AM for the game breifing.  Please make arrangments to get their as soon to that as possible.  If you want to set up camp show up earlier please because game breifing WILL start at 10:00 AM on Saturday! :)

I am not part of the group that started the game, but I know most of them and it was posted on here for the intent to have a huge attendence. Of coarse you would need a ride and the directions are already up there.

the rsvp part is so that the hosters have an idea of the attendance. Not that big of a deal if you didnt tell them. But since you kno that you are goin, you may as well rsvp via this thread. The same wiith other game threads.

Please do!  Right now we are trying to get a more accurate count of people attending.  Right now we are looking at about 28 people.  I'll count em up again later today and post it up how many we've got.  Just tell us how many of your friends you are bringing with you :)

I think you might want to plan on more than that. You're never going to get an even close to accurate count.
Many times you'll see threads with 20 or so people saying they're going to show, but you'll actually get 40+ at the game.

Yeah I know, but people who've RSVPed is about 34ish now.  Anyways We went up to Strawberry this weekend and we are changing the AO to Four Peeks because of the snow.  If you dont believe me there is 6 inches of snow on the ground and the roads leading in are fairly covered.  Yimmie is gonna post up some more pics though of the area covered in snow.   Same time same date same game diff location.

this game location would be great with the snow if you could stand the cold but we couldn't even get the 4x4 in there and considering not every one has a truck soooo... i hate to change the AO but, damn snow was too much. we had to push whiskey's mustang just to get up a snow covered hill.... anyways well post a new thread that will hopefully catch everyone's attention about the new location
thanks
