NOTE: Due to the extreme fire restrictions in effect as well as scheduling conflicts, we feel that it is in the best interest of the players to move the event to 9-11 Sept 2011. We apologize on behalf of mother nature and a few others. If you have any questions just let us know.

Yeah the new date might work out better for me as well.  Just had a bunch of unexpected bills come in, and of course work slowed down after the holiday.

The date seams to work for just about everyone which is good cause we hate moving an event.

Also I want to put out a question to everyone. As we are working on the scenarios, is there any particular mission or scenario you would like to see?

Recon or covert demolitions missions are always interesting.  Having to id an object or target before some other event can happen.  But of course those scenarios can be tricky to pull off during larger games without someone messing things up.  Moving the target, and or guarding it above and beyond what was planned.

I just hope that the objectives are real world and not over stacked. I played up in Flagstaff and the host just kept adding objectives to the game. ended up like 12-14,got bored with his stuff and in the end just shot at them not worrying about what this guy said.

chris - if you havent been to combatchallenge events before then you are deprived my friend. make sure the guys you run with are able to keep up with his level of planning (physically and mentally). radio coms, gps and a good map are going to be crucial. i think im running with you guys on this one as well cant wait!!

This is my first one. The only reason I went to play in Flagstaff is because my team went to LC. I won't play again without at least one of them there. I can't wait to play red dagger.

I haven't been to an event where gps was recommended. How crucial would it be and are we talking tracker type units or full topo maps and such?

Due to the nature of the terrain and several other safety factors, A minimum of one GPS unit will be required per team. It is the team's responsibility to secure one for the event, GPS units will not be provided. All coordinates will be in UTM. A basic unit will be sufficient, it is your responsibility to make sure you know how to use it in conjunction with the map that will be provided. At least one person on the team will need to know the basics of how to find your position, read/find a coordinate on a map and enter and mark coordinates into your GPS unit. If you require additional assistance in understanding how to utilize a gps please contact us prior to the event.

A required gear list will be posted soon.
