Local Games Listing/RSVP / VIP on Sat, 5/07/2011

Hey all,

Just a heads up, I'm going to be at Vanguard's Session 2 (2PM - 6PM) and maybe 3 (6PM - 10PM) this Saturday (5/07/2011).  Just for some casual pickup games at this excellent field.

I haven't been there for a game in a while, and I'd like to change that.  Wondering if anyone else is interested.

If so, I'll see you there.  GLHF everyone, hehe.

Local Games Listing/RSVP / Feb. 26th,UNOFFICIAL Zombie Survival Training
« on: February 21, 2011, 01:54:25 AM »
***Edited***
Hey Everybody, Drew W. here.

I've receved a PM stating that there might not be an official Zombie Survival Training this year, due to time constraints.  That's a shame, but they fully support and encourage us to go ahead with our own preparations.  With that in mind, the Unofficial Zombie Survival Training is still on.

We're going to join up with other players and organize an UNOFFICIAL Zombie survival class on the SAME DAY as the event.

Finalized Schedule:

Where:  Vanguard Indoor Playground (Break room in the back)
When:  Saturday, Feb. 26th.  (Day of the game)
Check-In:  2:00PM - 2:30PM (During Block 2)
Class Start:  2:30PM  Sharp

Required Equipment:
* Eye Protection.
* Chest Protection.
* Airsoft Replica (Unloaded, battery out).
* Plastic or nerf melee weapon (softer = better).
* Zombie Volunteers need everything except the Airsoft and melee weapons.

If you arrive later than 2:30PM, just come on back.  We'll roll you into the training.

If you arrive really late, don't worry.  We'll have a second training session later that day (still prior to the event).

Basically it'll be a short class (not the full 4 hours) composed of players from the Oct. 30th, 2010 Left 4 Dead sharing what they remember.  And from that, composing some kind of training drills to help humans survive (and help zombies get efficient kills, hehe).  It's going to be informal, round-table discussion, followed by us recreating some of the drills that MTT taught us at last year's Zombie Survival Class.

Anywho, that's basically the plan.  If you show up early enough, meet us outside the entrance to the break room in the back (entrance = water fountains near the concession stand), and we'll fold you into the class.

-----------

Some people have pmed me stating that they can't make it to the event, but other new arrivals have expressed an interest in helping as instructors.  If you can't make it, no problem.  This is 100% optional.  If you can, it's appreciated.  Your past experiences with the training and the event itself will really help pass on valuable information to L4D's new arrivals.

See you guys there.  Good Luck and Have Fun.

Hey everyone.  It's Drew W. (again, hehe).

I put this here because I didn't want to threadjack the RSVP forum's post of the upcoming game:  Operation Lost Dog on Feb. 20th, 2011.

Anyway, I had a thought that this game could be immensely fun if we incorporated some roleplay into it.  Some of the best Hadji games I go to are when the Insurgents are actively roleplaying (Cat-calling Americans, using accents, saying martyr phrases just before they throw a frag grenade at the enemy, etc).

Personally I'm signed up for the Russian team, but the problem is I don't speak any Russian, nor do I know the Spetsnaz-word for "Suppression Fire."

So I googled this site, and some forum poster for a Russian Airsoft reenactment group had the nice courtesy to do it for us.  ;)

Russian Commands and Pronunciations!
http://www.red-alliance.net/forum/index.php?topic=206.0

Here are some of the more common ones I thought we could use in the coming game:
English / Russian (Pronunciation)
Fire! / Agon! (Pronounced Ah - Gaw -N) (Can be used to call for "Suppression Fire!")
Reloading! / Zarizhayu! (Pronounced Zah - Ree- Zha - You)
Grenade! / Granata! (Pronounced Gra - Nah - Tah)
I'm hit! / Ya Ranin! (Pronounced Yah - Rah - Neen)
Medic! / Vrach! (Pronounced Vrah - CH)

One good model to make sure everyone knows what you're talking about is this:

You see an enemy, and wish to call for suppression fire.
Point the target out.
(Russian Accent)  "Fire! Agon! Fire!"

Basically "English , "Russian" , "English again"  This can add an interesting flavor to the Russian team, but still get our commands across.  It's important to have only a few commands like this, and only the most frequently used ones (Fire, Hit, Grenade and Medic, if this game has medic rules).

That'll help us to remember them when the adrenaline jacks up.  Also, practice the whole phrase itself (English, Russian, English) as its own phrase, so that it's even easier to remember

Spend just a few minutes each day practicing these phrases on your own, and you'll wind up doing it out of reflex on game day, guaranteed.

Anyway, that's it for me.  If anyone has any suggestions for how to add in even more roleplaying tidbits, please feel free to reply.

I'd also like to hear some ideas from the Brits as well, any slang or costume ideas, etc.  ;)

GLHF all.

Howdy all, this is Drew W.

This thread is for those who have volunteered to roleplay as a zombie for the upcoming game:  MTT's Left 4 Dead on February 26th, 2011.

First off, thank you all for signing up.  It's not easy, living the undead life.  But you guys help make these games worth attending, so thank you.

Second, here's the current player count for Zombies (from MTT's gmail account):

As of Wednesday, 2/02/2011:
* 3 volunteers
* 4 staff

They need at least 10 zombies for the event.
(8 per round, with 2 zombies taking breaks)

More would definitely be preferred, since we can always have more or fewer taking breaks, depending on how the game balance is going.

So here's the reason for this message:

If you already have, or plan to, sign up as a zombie volunteer, please sound off here:
* Real Name
* Forum Name
* Paid / Unpaid
* Costume (Optional - Feel free to use this as an opportunity to pimp your costume, hehe).

I.E:
* Drew Warner
* Drew W.
* Unpaid
* Hazmat Zombie (Pictures to come later)

This will help us keep track of who's to be expected, and also to help coordinate team efforts via PMs (i.e: car pools, costumes, volunteers for upcoming Zombie Survival 101 Training, etc)

Another reason for this thread is to encourage others to sign up for the Zombie Team.  We currently have 3 - 7 Zombies, and we need at least 10, preferably more.  I highly encourage you to go for the opportunity, for several reasons.

A)  You get in to the L4D event for Free.  Yes... FREE!!!  Can't beat free airsoft.
B)  You get free admittance to a future Marauder's Airsoft event.
C)  You get to roleplay.
D)  You get to dress up in costume.  Check out some of the great ideas players have in this forum.
E)  "Living players" are trying to survive to win free admission to the Zombieland event.  You get to be the wrench in their gears, by spending the night trying to kill them, hehe.
F)  You get to team-up with "the Tank."  Anyone who was at the Oct. 30th game, you know what I'm talking about.

So if you're at all interested in volunteering your time towards making this event one to remember for every player, and getting some great benefits out of it, then please sign up as a Zombie Volunteer by sending an e-mail to mttstaff@gmail.com.

Thanks for reading, hope to hear from you all.
