I just realized all my gear is green >.< lol

So I'll be playing as green instead of tan...

I think I can come.

Since the tan squad is running a little bit low on people, would it be cool if I played as tan and wore flecktarn pants and maybe like a black shirt or something?  The flecktarn pants are tan, but they aren't exactly green either...they're flecktarn... :P

AEG's / Re: What's the level of risk with fake deans plugs?
« on: October 10, 2011, 06:13:39 PM »
I wouldn't say there's a "risk" using the knock off Dean's plugs but you are going to lose some of the advantages.  The knock off plugs melt easier when soldering and have a higher resistance than genuine Dean's plugs.

Is that a for sure thing?  Reason I ask is because supposedly cheapbatterypacks.com/eliteairsoftbatteries.com uses "fake" deans plugs. I would think a reputable company like that would use authentic deans, but apparently they don't.  I've never owned real deans, so I can't say myself, but a trustworthy tech mentioned CBP/EAB uses fake deans.

I've had no problems with "fake deans."  I got a set of 20 connectors (10 male, 10 female) from hobbyking.com for like $10.  They appear to be gold plated (or at least they have the gold color.....so idk...) and I believe they are made of a nylon fiber material.

I've "heard" the hobbyking deans actually resist more to melting when soldering compared to authentic deans plugs.  I don't know if that's true, but you won't have any problems using fake deans in my experience.  They always improved the trigger response time, ROF, and sometimes even battery life (because of the lower resistance) in all my guns.

Accessories & Gear / Re: Mid cap mags

I like MAG midcaps. (or at least the M4 mags, I haven't used the other)  STAR G36 mags are complete crap, so I personally would stay away from STAR mags.  (their armalite mags might be okay, IDK..)

You do have to break in the mag midcaps though.  (by lubing them and then loading them and unloading them several times to disperse the lube and remove the excess)

Yeah, no prob.  It's sorta a V6 shell, but a lot of the parts aren't V6....lol

I would really only trust "airsoft" or "paintball" brand silicone spray.  RC shock oil (IIRC?) is supposed to be good too.

A lot of bottles at hardware stores will say 100% silicone spray, but it will still have petroleum products in it.  For instance, I bought a bottle of Ace Hardware 100% silicone spray and tested it out on an old BE AUG body to see if it was safe for plastic.  Let it sit for a while and when I came back, the parts of the body which I sprayed (which used to be black) were a gray color.  Needless to say, I wouldn't want to be spraying that on my compression parts or on my bucking.

Here's a good guide to read through:
http://www.airsoftforum.com/board/Airso ... 14544.html
Notice how many "ingredients" you have to watch out for and keep in mind some bottles don't list everything that's inside the spray.  Seeing as it can be such a hassle, I think you are better off getting it off an airsoft website.  ICS silicone spray comes in pretty good sized bottles, so it will last a pretty long time. (especially considering you don't really need silicone spray for much)

In all honestly, I found silicone spray/oil not to be the greatest for compression parts.  It doesn't stick well enough, so it sprays through the air nozzle and into the bucking/hop up chamber.  That reduces the friction (which may sound like a good thing, but it isn't) and creates gunk that reduce the performance of your hop up system.  You are better off with a grease/gel IMO.

White lithium is great for gears though.

I would think that UTG silicone spray should be fine, seeing as it's an airsoft brand.

AEG's / Re: G&P M120 Motor

If you are looking for trigger response, you want a high torque motor, not high speed.  Although I think that's what stealthmaster14 was trying to say since AMP doesn't sell a high speed motor under their brand.

Yeah, all those brands I mentioned are pretty much the same thing. A lot of people believe they have the same OEM. I forgot the AMP is only high torque.

The G&P M160 and M170 motors are also good choices, but they are really expensive and the performance won't be that much better than the ACM motors.  (the M160 might even perform the same)

Depending on what battery you use, you may get pre-engagement with a highspeed version of the motors I posted earlier, you should probably go high torque.

Go for an Element/5KU/AMP/Dream Army/SHS high speed motor.

I hope so, I haven't gone airsofting in forever.

I assume bio bbs are still required and the field fee is still $20?

Easiest way would be to email the pictures to your own personal email address, save them to your computer, and them upload them to photobucket.com or a similar website.  Then post the link.

But looks like this was posted a while ago.  My bad..

AEG's / Re: Which piston?
« on: May 22, 2011, 10:47:31 AM »
Yeah you could go aluminum in the CA M14 gearbox, but there really isn't a reason to, especially if you have a sorbo pad.

Polycarb piston heads will be a bit quieter than an aluminum and will be easier on the gearbox shell.  (no reason to put unnecessary stress on something)

Modify POM, Element POM/Orange, Element Black, Prometheus POM, and JG creme colored piston heads are good just to name a few.
