Offhand means shooting without a rest, not without sights. If you can hold steady from the standing position and using your scope of course, see if you can hit the target then. I prefer iron sights or a red dot for offhand shooting, and a scope for bench or bipod shooting.

Yeah, I know what off-hand means but, read his post again:
Very nice. Now for some real skill try it without the scope, and shooting offhand. If you can even hit the target, your the man!I can't do it.

I read it, that's why I also mentioned "not without sights".

What impresses me more is that you've only been shooting for a relatively short time now and you managed that group. That is good rifle control, amigo. Nicely done.

I don't know how you guys feel, but I think shooting with steel sights is a lot more fun than with scope. It helps you learn your gun. Nice gun paco.

...just want to point out that, again, this Remington 700 has no iron sights. It can't be shot without optics. [:p]

. . . Which is unfortunate. [:)] Try getting a 2" group at 100 with one of your AR's. That's tough (using the 0-200m aperture, not the 200m+ aperature). [:P] Off-hand, that is. I've never done it, but then again, I don't have an AR to play with yet. [:(]

I can't get a 2" group @ 100 w/ an AR w/ open sights even from a benchrest! Regardless of ammo. But I can take that same ammo and put it in my Winchester Model 70 and shoot dime sized groups all day.

Personally, I enjoy shooting nice tight 4 or 5 round groups as much as anyone. But the REAL test of accuracy is in a "cold bore" bullseye. Try it at 100..then 200...then 300. Watch how hard THAT gets. If you ever have to use your gun to kill something, chances are you'll have a cold bore...not all nice and warmed up after shooting a few rounds through it.

Actually it CAN be shot without optics, whether you hit anything or not is a different story. [;)] [:p]

An AR can get decent groupings with aftermarket trigger packs. I'm sure Paco's PSS has a sweet trigger running somewhere around 2lbs of pull. I put a Jard trigger that I bought of Paco in my AR and it has a 2lb pull. Very sweet to say the least. I had another AR that had a JP trigger pack in it and shot better than 1/2 inch groups with the proper loads.

Let's not rehash that particular movie debate here. It was a ridiculous debate, based more on what would have happened AFTER the seen events than on what happened on screen. Wrong forum for it here anyway.
