PROJECT TITAN

The nations of Tan and Green have lived in uncomfortable peace for decades since the Phoenix Wars. With dramatic cultural differences between the nations, increasing distrust has fueled an arms race in preparation for war. The advanced Tan nation is convinced that Green will encroach upon their borders soon. With concern for the safety of it's citizens always in mind, Tan has been preparing for this moment.

Through years of research and development the nation of Tan has developed the titan missle defense system, a highly advanced laser capable of destroying any incoming threat over Tan airspace. this effort has been brought forth by the ever increasing hostily of the neighboring nation of green, a country with
formidible resources and ever increasing ambition to expand it's borders. With the public announcement of the completion of the system, Green has taken this action as a preparation for war and decided to strike swiftly to steal the titan system and all information reguarding the construction and operation of
the device before openly attacking the nation of Tan.

Tan has taken several measures to protect their investment. The actual laser location is unknown by Green recon at this point, but the location of the guidence software has been found. The laser guidence software is protected by heavy defense in two separate locations, both are concealed in locked security boxes with access granted to high ranking officers that are in the area. Green has decided to take it's first step in taking control of war to come. Orders have been given to recover the software at all costs. With vast numbers of Green soldiers on the move, the uncertain futures of the these nations will soon be brought to light.

Green objectives:
1. Locate the officers holding the software keys.
2. Obtain the software keys and proceed to security boxes.
3. Neutralize all opposition and obtain laser guidence software.
4. Return to drop point for extraction with software.

Tan objectives:
1. Protect officers at all times.
2. Maintain security at both software locations.
3. Nuetralize all Green soldiers with extreme prejudice.

I have a quick question.  Is it really necessary for people under 18 to bring their parents and participate?
Title: Re: REBEL UNION BBQ #4 PROJECT TITAN 2-6-10
Post by: fourwheeltrooperguy on December 29, 2009, 06:58:17 PM
yes it is necessary. we are living in a liberal, sue happy, everyone is at fault except for me society. until the times change and people begin to believe in self accountability again, no minors without THEIR parents. sorry to get up on the soap box there a little, but that is how i feel about the situation. we are a non profit organization, therefore we do not have liability insurance.

Post by: DXSOLDR on January 03, 2010, 06:16:28 PM
Well I would really like to go.  It sounds like a lot of fun, but I don't think my parents are willing or able to actually participate in combat situations.  If it's necessary, I'm sure they're willing to go, but not participate.

Simple. They aren't looking for people in blue and red. They're looking for people in Camo, and so the blue and red don't register in their brains as a person, but instead as an insignificant detail since it isn't what they're looking for.

drich that map is correct, once you get to the canal, turn left onto the south side of the canal and proceed past two cattleguards, take your first left after the second cattleguard, you should be able to see the other cars

Mike-

Welcome to airsoft. :D/  There will be plenty of guys around that age attending all sorts of games, including this one (I'm 24, and the group I play with are ages 19 through 23). Most other players are actually around that demographic.

A few words of friendly advice: if you are set on playing some of the big ops (including this one), you'll need a set of BDU's or ACU's. A set of both green (woodland) and tan (desert) will allow you to play on either side. Once you got your uniform, you just log onto AA and put your name down for either tan or green.

Also, be prepared to have to drive far distances for good games, since we usually have to play airsoft out in the un-inhabited areas to avoid legal problems. It's usually a good idea to try to get a carpool together with someone who owns a truck or other kind of off roading vehicle.

Hope that answers your questions, and once again, welcome.

you can usually find a set of woodland or 3 color DCUs for around 30$. digital patturns are around 60$.

mikey i just look around at retail stores for camo, you can always find camo clothes on clearance at target and kohls and places like that, and usually i pay about 10 bucks for pants and less than that for shirts. they may not be military spec, but who cares, they work right?

d.rich you would be on green with woodland camo. either way its not a big deal.

and nomad, just pick whatever you prefer and let me know whenever you get your camo. if anything just try to wear green or tan clothing.

also same rules as always, no full auto weapons over 400 fps with a .20 bb. semi is limited to 450 fps with a .20 and single shot snipers are 500fps with a .20. all rifles will be chronographed. eye and mouth protection are required.

Reading that is recommended.

agreed. i dont doubt some new players will "go rogue" as they like to say. needless to say thats how you lose. its going to take team work and with a large group of players that are new playing with each other its going to take a command structure to accomplish out mission. this isnt force on force guys.

Steel works im behind you 100%. i think you know you can rely on me. any thing you need let me know.

Don't yell too loud!  I am getting setup with a motorola radio & headset - so a whisper would be fine!

Kev

hah what would a event with steelworks be without them yelling at everyone to move up and do what they say to!? :-k

it would be a lame event with everyone camping in the back of the spawn not doing anything but getting spawn raped!

agreed. i dont doubt some new players will "go rogue" as they like to say. needless to say thats how you lose. its going to take team work and with a large group of players that are new playing with each other its going to take a command structure to accomplish out mission. this isnt force on force guys.

Steel works im behind you 100%. i think you know you can rely on me. any thing you need let me know.

I am getting all verklempt!

Yeah - all the Tan nation has ever been trying to do is protect our countrymen from aggressors like Green.

We're just over here minding our own business, developing national defense systems, and Green decides to attack us!!

Tan will defend what is rightfully ours - and bring down the green aggressors!

You're either with the Allied Tan Coalition (ATC), or part of the Axis of green Symbolic Sycophants (ASS).  There will be no middlemen, unless you are french of course, then you can come in and contract with Green and Tan to build infrastructure poorly, but charge highly, and then vacate leaving only stinky cheese laying around.

But I digress.

Tan will defend what is rightfully ours from the Green transgressors!

Or to put it simply!

ATC will pound ASS!!!!!

LOL

Jacob, since Ryan is not going to be coming, a good friend of mine from out of state is coming in his place. He is buying gear right now to play up in Colorado and this would be a good chance to show him what to expect and also get to play with a great group of guys in an awesome tactical milsim.

So if you can, please add him to tan. Thanks!  :)

To fourwheeltrooperguy and everyone at Airsoft Arizona,

Hello all.  My name is Drew.  I am a fresh-fish airsofter at 26 years old.  I’m a long-time reader of Airsoft Arizona forums, but a first-time poster.  It’s great to meet you all.

I started airsofting at CQB AZ Airsoft’s indoor field near Tempe, and recently attended Rebel Union’s night game at Fightertown last year, but my airsofting has fallen by the wayside recently due to college.

I have some free time this weekend, and stumbled upon Rebel Union’s BBQ #4: Project Titan next morning.  I would LOVE to attend, but there’s a problem…

Fourwheeltrooperguy’s post on page 13 says that the roster is closed.  So I’m not sure if I’m still able to attend at all, or if I would just be party crashing (the last thing I want to do to you guys).

BOTTOM LINE:  If Fourwheel or anyone else in charge of the Op can reply, I would love to know if I can still attend.  I’m perfectly willing to bring my own lunch (since I’m posting so late in the game here), and am itching to go.

If there’s a spot open, please sign me up for team GREEN (I’m all Woodland camo).  And of course, don’t worry about a lunch spot, since that should go to those who sign-up on time.

Again, sorry about the late sign-up.  I just found this on the forums tonight after I got off work.  I have the gear, 330 fps CA36C, entrance fee, water, ID, and wheels to take me to the canal.  I just need the greenlight.

Thanks for your help, and I hope to meet you all there.  Peace!

~ Drew

Aha!  Thank you much Fourwheel, I owe you!

It's morning and I'm getting my stuff in the car.  2 hours of driving fun.

To Dwayne:  I'm not sure, but according to the Op instructions: "once you reach the canal, go west along the south side of the canal, take your first leftafter the second cattle guard."  I assume more instructions or a handful of airsofters will be there.

Good luck to you all, see you there.  And again, thank you!

~ Drew.

I got some decent pictures and even some video that I'll post once I get back to my PC with video editing software and etcetera at my dorm room.

If you're wondering what kind of footage, did you see the group of kids charging blindly forward during the second game and screaming bloody murder? Yeah, we're those kids.

Thank you all for a great day today!  I hope everyone had as much fun as I did.  I am just sorry my back got hurt and forced an early retire for me.

Jacob - thank you very much for all the work you put into this.  Kudo's - and thanks!!

jeremy - well done!  I think everyone on Tan worked great together to really make for an awesome 1st game today.  That was easily the best "action" I've seen on the field in a long, long time.

Thanks again!  Had a blast and can't wait for the next time.

Rebel Union:

Thanks so much for another great Saturday BBQ event. This was an absolute blast, as well as completely exhausting  ;)  Everyone from Steelworks had a blast and my guest from out of town is definitely hooked and already planning his gear purchases so he can begin playing up in Colorado. So my personal thanks for showing him a good time and showing him how much fun this can be when you're around a great group of people who enjoy the sport and know how to have a good time.

Jacob:

Thanks for allowing Andrew and I the opportunity to play some fairly crucial roles in the storyline of the Op. It was a lot of fun, if not boring for me due to my "hiding out" the entire game after hauling my ass out of harm's way after your guys came up on us faster than I could have even anticipated. Your crew along the fence were sneeeaaaaky.

To my personal body guards:

Thanks for sitting in a wash nearly the entire Op and protecting my ass. I know it wasn't much fun to spend an entire game without engaging the enemy, but you both did what was requested and did so in truly honorable fashion. You guys are awesome.

Jeremy:

GREAT job on the communication! Everyone was constantly giving sitreps, which is CRUCIAL. I hope my "keymaster" comments were helpful! And great job on coordinating the Troops  :)

To the photographer/videographer:

THANK YOU for putting your butts in harms way while only trying to take pictures and video.

Flip -

I was the guy that this happened with - I was playing the medic role, Tan. I was instructed to hold my gun over my head for 60 seconds and then respawn.  I incorrectly interpreted this to to a respawn in place.  I will own that.  My apologies to ya'all on Green.

I talked with a few of the guys on the field during this event, who were around me.  They will attest that we spoke about it - and kind of worked it out, kind of not.  After, I left the field - I then talked to Jacob about it.  It was totally my misread of the way Jacob wanted to run it - and was not his fault.

Please see me at the field if you'd like to discuss it or ask me questions.

I apologize for the issue.  I feel really bad that I upset you guys.

Kevin

just so every one knows! Surrender is a courtesy! if you try to surrender i grip of people in a bunker with only a pistol GOOD LUCK... try it in real life combat and watch what happens. Ive surrendered people many times only to be shot by them because they had a faster trigger finger. You don't see me complaining. please let it go.

If you get the drop on a gaggle of gunners, that would be a good time to take a few steps back and hose em.  Or Frag them.  Following safe range rules of course.

Either way best to shoot them rather than get shot asking them to play nice.

All I am saying is if some one gets the drop on you just a few feet away. You surrender because that is to close to shoot.

Actually, he didn't see us...Steve was right next to me covering my right side. I did not shoot right away because I did not want to give away our position. However, someone on Steve's side saw us and started to fire, then I popped him :)

haha well what happened in this picture is: In front of McGee (m16) there was a furrow that I'm laying in. You probably can't see me but I'm behind the bush that is on the left of the picture. You should see a very shadowy, dark portion on the left of the plant. My BDU pants are woodland, same as the sniper on the left side of the picture, so my leg kinda mixes in with his leg.

Needless to say, the only real reason you don't see the 3rd sniper is because you literally have a blocked line of sight lol, not because of a superb ghilly suit (pfft). Didn't mean to toot my own horn.

people just need to learn to comply with it..or we should be allowed to use frags.. cuz we wouldn't have this problem if i could have just thrown a frag in there. just my opinion. getting shot in the face with a 450 fps sniper because people didn't surrender is BS

i agree completely. Snipers have a different set of rules that must be followed for the sake of safety. I know the individual your talking about and i had a talk with him during the game about the responsibilities of using a sniper rifle in airsoft after i heard him talking about what happened. I made sure he knew the engagement rules as well as why they are in place.

There were also reports of people attempting to surrender an entire bunker full of people using only a pistol. Surrender is a good thing as far as saving people the pain of getting shot at close range. It should be noted that surrender should only be used on a person your aimed at only. Willing walking up on an entire group of enemies and expecting to surrendering all of them just goes to show your intelligence level. if you wouldn't do it in live fire combat you shouldn't do it in airsoft, after all this is a Mil-Sim, not call of duty.

As far as frags are concerned. they are allowed as long as they explode and send BBs or powder out. Using rubber dummy grenades was not allowed because it can become confusing for people specially considering the amount of first timers we had out at the field. A few people, namely D.Rich_1 had working fragmentation grenades as well as claymores that were permitted on the field.

If someone does not understand the simplicity of a rubber dummy grenade and the rules that one implies i think they should not be playing with toy guns. It is very simple, if you see it when the person yells bang and you are within like 5 - 10 feet of it your dead. pretty simple, easy rules to follow if you are even somewhat semi-intelligent.

Sorry for being a dick about this...i'm just pissed i got shot point blank with a sniper rifle, and then as i was walking away in frustration because of no one getting out even though some of them were shot by me, i got shot in the back by two other guys.

they only got close due to the confusion on the ones i was throwing around...i cleared it up befor the game started the the exploding hand gernades were ok to use...the dummy ones were not due to wieght issues...the ones i used only way an couple ounces or so...and frags are apart of ever combat situation and should be aloud to be use in milsim games...maybe not team death matches and all but milsims...cmon its a war simulation....if your afraid of a gernade landing on your head then you shouldnt be playing a milsim unless the milsim isnt truely a military simulation....just my opinion...the day was great and the bbq was awsome so no complaints here...

I agree again. I would be mad if I got shot point blank with a sniper as well. I would like to see AA start having sniper qualifications in order to use sniper rifles to stop new players from using them in an irresponsible way. I can see your argument regarding the sniper rifles and I can see the confusion that may over come many new players which is where the whole sniper problem is coming from. Playing a sniper roll in airsoft has many added rules and regulations that are over coming for new players. The airsoft field is a hectic, confusing place. Couple that with the added responsibilities of playing a sniper roll is simply to much for new players.

Now on to the frag issue. With the amount of new players that were attending i feel that jacob did the right thing not allowing dummy grenades but only allowing grenades that launch projectiles. its easy specially for new players to get frustrated and start a confrontation with some one over the ten foot blast radius of a frag as well as what is and isn't cover from a frag but when you use an actual fragmenting grenade your either hit or not. Same rules apply to the water balloons that are often seen as artillery at rebel union. Your either get hit with water or you don't. It seems that the use of dummy grenades at an event of this size would have been counter productive and only created confrontations that aren't needed.

Sorry for being a dick about this...i'm just pissed i got shot point blank with a sniper rifle, and then as i was walking away in frustration because of no one getting out even though some of them were shot by me, i got shot in the back by two other guys.

The only problem with this is that most "snipers" in airsoft are kids that play too much Call Of Duty. They're young, stupid, and they have no money so they buy a cheap Spring sniper rifle. ( Ex. JG Bar-10 ) Without any upgrades and they think they are a sniper. How do you plan on "qualifying" these people?

AA has nothing to do with setting field rules. Thats up to whoever is running the game.

The problem is you are confusing Rebel Union with AA.  I think the last AA game I went to (60ish people IIRC) had 2 people with a bolt action rifle on a huge field (4 peaks).  The last RU game I went to (20ish people) also had 2 people with bolt action rifles on a small field.  The fact that snipers are WAY overrated in airsoft is moot.  Unless RU is playing on a different field than last time (entirely possible) it's a far too small a field to need "snipers".  Unfortunately I missed this particular game, but I've already heard complaints from two other people that did go that there were guns shooting far too hot for that field.  That's why many organized events chrono guns before hand.  Most also have an enforced MED.

I respect that RU wants a laid back feel to their events.  I have no problem with that in the slightest, it's your choice how you want to run your games.  But the bigger you guys get, the more problems like this you are going to have.  Unless you are playing on a much bigger field than before (once again you may be), you need to start enforcing chrono's.  At the very least on sniper rifles and/or spot checks on questionable guns.

Getting shot in the back when you are out is a fact of life in airsoft.  It sucks, but it happens.  But when it's happening with guns shooting far too hot and from far too close that's when fights are going to break out.  If somebodies shooting someone point blank with a sniper rifle, he needs to be removed from the game.  Period.  That's bad for the game, bad for the group, bad for the sport.  It's one thing when it's just a small group of friends, it's another thing when you have other people there.

That's my thought anyways.

Well I haven't really kept up with this argument, all I have to say is I was the guy with the multicam rifle shooting over 400 fps and I stuck to semi auto the entire time...

Anyways, it would be nice to get back to the picture and video sharing... this was my first time out and it was a decent field I thought and alright game play. I only got like 2 pictures because after the games started it was pretty intense:

The first thing I thought was 'the snipers are going to do best'. I'm pretty sure I was right.. :P

I realize this is a dead subject now but i just want to point out a few things, that everyone was chronoed before the game.

and as to getting shot in the back i know it happens in airsoft but this wasnt like that. i was standing about 1 foot away from the people i "surrendered" but none of them got out. so i was like ok im out, and turned and walked away and they stood up and shot me to be dicks, not because they didn't know if i was out or not. there is a big different when you are across the field from someone and you can't tell if they are out and you shoot them a few more times to make sure, or you are standing right next to someone and say out out and turn and walk away and they stand up and shoot you just to be a dick.

As for the shooting someone with a sniper point blank (me being the one shot point blank in the face) i totally agree they should have been thrown out from the game along with the other two guys who stood up and shot me. it is not safe nor is it good sportsmanship to stand up and shoot people point blank in the face when they are standing next to you saying out out and walking away.

What the hell were you doing to have all this happen to you? Get shot in unpleasant places AND get shot point blank by a sniper?

ok, as the organizer of the event i would like to say a few things.

First, everyone was chronoed at the event. all 70 something of them.

And honestly people. everything i have heard is about sportsmanship. i can only do so much to ensure that people understand how to have respect for each other on the field. the event was thoroughly planned out as our take on milsim games, obviously i can't please everybody. our field even when its full sized (as opposed to our weekly games with smaller numbers in attendance) is not very large, but its the field we built simply for the purpose of having a good time with a decent turnout on a regular basis.

that is what we do at Rebel Union, have fun. we dont try to be serious about airsoft, for christs sake its a bunch of adults running around playing guns. The whole reason i started Rebel Union was that when i first got into airsoft i found that most airsofters are clicky, if you werent part of their group you knew nothing. so i said "f**k it, i'll start hosting for people who just want to get out there and play immediately, for everyone that works 40 hrs a week and doesnt have the time for milsim all day events."

It's all about fun guys. I figure it out as i go along. and if you want to judge my organization then so be it, just realize that i do my best to ensure fun airsoft, at my own time and expense i might add. also all the work everyone at Rebel Union does to help. we do it for free, every weekend, and ask nothing in return.

And finally i would like to say thanks to everyone that does support us, you make it all worthwhile.

Jacob - you have acheived a fun environment.
You have acheived a relaxed atmosphere where adults run around and play with guns - and have fun!

And dammit - you are right - most of it was/is about sportsmanship.  You can't be there to babysit the players. You can just be there to make the venue happen, and get the people there.  And it was damn fine event if I must say so.  Probably the best event I've been to paintball OR airsoft.

You did it right.  And did it well.  You have ambassadors on the field, myself included, that attempted to keep the heat down, and the fun up.  I think we did.

there were a few "issues" but - no fist fights.  And lots of smiles.  I think that's 100% great.

If you have a comment or suggestion about a problem - write jacob a PM and let him know about it - and then trust him to either deal with it or not.  Some things need managing, others don't.  And then get out there and remember the main goal - have fun - and be adult - and play with airsoft guns.  Mission accomplished.

Jacob - it rocked.  Don't let anyone tell you different.

p.s.  I think everyone who's read this thread is honestly respecting and thinking about the issues brought up - and thinking about how they can help solve the problem and still have fun.   the group on the field are a solid group of guys.  trust em to figure it out.

i hope you don't think i was putting down the even jacob. it was a very well organized event and it went really well. All of the RU games normally go very well and are a lot of fun. This event was no different. I had no problems with how the game was set up or run or anything like that...like you said it was just sportsmanship problems. I was just trying to get some feedback of what other people thought and how to fix the problem. It all comes down to people following the rules correctly and having good sportsmanship. But that is an individual basis and has nothing to do with how the game was setup or ran.

All in all it was a great game, i still had a lot of fun. and i am looking forward to the next RU game. You guys, especially you jacob put a lot of time into these events and they are great. keep up the good work.

yeah the game was awesome. The discussion about sniper rules and stuff should probably be moved to a different thread all together but it just happened to some up here simply because there were issues concerning it at the game. It had nothing to do with the game or organizers. Jacob i hope it goes with out saying that i back what your doing 100%. You did everything you could to ensure a fair safe game. All of the hype about surrenders and sniping rules came up simply because their is a large amount of new players that don't thoroughly understand the mechanics of the game and the rules we play by to ensure the safety of everyone.

It is the veterans responsibility to teach all new players the rules and more importantly why the rules are in place. If you see some one doing something in an unsafe manner please stop them and explain what they are doing wrong in a respectful way.

everyone could sit here all day, and pick everything apart. but i think it all comes down to common sense. shit happens, it was a good game. when you have 80 people playing, shits going to happen. thats really all there is to it
