Does the chest rig hold anything specificly( like M4 mags, grenades, ETC.)? How many pouches are there, it's kind of hard to tell.

5 pouches total + a pocket, 3 mag pouches in the middle, 2 utility pouches (larger) are on the sides, and an internal pocket above the mag pouches. Mag. pouches can hold (9x m16, 6x ak, or 6x .308 style) or what ever else might fit. Then the 2 utility pouches for whatever else you may need. It's pretty much pouches for what you want to do with.
