This bill would make the provision imposing a civil fine on the sale,
manufacture, transportation, receipt, or distribution of imitation
firearms for commercial purposes applicable to BB devices.
transportation means anything ups/fedex/other shipping means, receipt means anything that touches the docs in california is considered receipt, sale means anything that is bought from a california company, distribution means anything sent out from california... so if you buy anything airsoft from any california company it will affect you... The majority of all goods shipped from asia end up on a California Dock wich means the bill now applies to that product.

Ask businesses why they are leaving California and setting up shop elsewhere.

I guarantee one of those answers will be "business laws."  Airsoft companies should follow suit and leave.

I lived in California for 15 years.  The weather is nice and it's pretty and green for the most part.  But that's about it.  Housing is overpriced.  Hollywood and Los Angeles are overhyped.  The state is going bankrupt.  Overpaid education boards and unions and welfare programs are bleeding the taxpayers to death.  And somewhere along the lines, someone thought it would be a brilliant idea to push more laws to force more compliance to help pick up the slack.

It doesn't work that way, folks.  I'm glad I live here in Arizona now.  People in this state seem to be a little more down to earth with a head on their shoulders than those living in Fantasyland.  That's why I don't see this law passing here.

Good topic, glad you guys are discussing it.  We currently live in California and yea it is over taxed, over regulated, and over ran with illegal aliens.  But to call us communist living in fantasy land is a little rough.  I agree with the statement I have quoted and we are looking to move to AZ for those reasons.  From what I have herd the bill was pulled but I don't know for sure.  The reason most of the major retailers are here is because of the shipping ports and I doubt it is the weather, plus Ca is the hub for Airsoft merchandise coming into this country.  SB 798 does effect the Airsoft community as a whole because any events held here will have to comply with the law (Lion Claw for example)  It's just bullshirt, it's a knee jerk reaction from the idiots up in Sacramento giving into the cops, oh by the way the biggest gangs here in So Cal are the cops.

I have learned first hand about the business climate here in California, I am trying to open an Airsoft field but it is almost impossible due to zoning laws.  I've had city council members ask for reelection contributions or they would not help me (that's PC for a bribe) or pay for environmental impact reports (years and $$$$$) it's all bullshirt here.  So just because you guys wont be directly effected by SB798 the Airsoft community will.  I play with guys from all over this country and not a one of them want to see this bill pass regardless of what state it's in.

I love Arizona lol, There are many reasons I moved from NV and never once considered moving to CA. Some states are great and some just suck... Lets just hope the "country of california" doesn't affect the rest of the country any more than it has....

SB798 failed to pass 2:5

Quote
Legislative Alert! – SB 798

Yesterday, the Assembly Public Safety Committee, of which I am a member, heard arguments in support of and against SB 798  (De León) which would classify all BB gun and airsoft devices as imitation firearms, thereby subjecting them to new rules and specifications (i.e. color, packaging, etc).

After hearing a great deal of testimony on this controversial bill, I am pleased to inform you that SB 798 failed to pass. The committee voted to oppose this legislation with a vote of 2:5. Please be assured that I not only strongly opposed this legislation, but I spoke out against in during committee discussion.

This bill is unnecessary and excessive. In fact, coloring BB guns and Airsoft products in bright colors will do little except give parents and children the impression that these devices are toys. This creates confusion and hides the fact that they can cause serious or fatal injury if misused or improperly handled.

We need to focus our efforts on strengthening the economy and creating jobs, not creating new hardships and restrictions for retailers, business owners, and responsible gun owners.

I am glad that my colleagues agreed with me on this issue and I thank you for your continued action and support. It is because of your involvement that we were able to kill this unreasonable legislation.

It is an honor to serve you and the State of California.

Sincerely,
Assemblyman Curt Hagman
District 60

WOOOOOOOOO!!!
Drinks are on me!...
But since I'm not 21 I hope you can all settle for juice boxes.

Even if it didn't pass it is being reviewed again by all the committee members. Don't really expect the results to be any differant.
