TM G3 Lipo/motor problem?
« on: March 20, 2013, 09:15:59 PM »
Hello,
I recently purchased a TM G3 from someone on the forum and I was looking it over and opening up the gearbox and found that there was a lot of upgrades done. mosfet, tightbore, piston, piston head, cylinder, motor. When I saw the mosfet I thought I would try out a lipo in this gun for my first time. I placed a new G&G m100 spring in it because I wanted to bump the rof abit and I also soldered deans. I also reshimed and relubed the gun. When I charged the lipo up and tried to fire on semi the gun would either pull the spring back but not release until another pull of the trigger. Still on semi I just held down the trigger and it went full auto. I tried full auto and that was fine but it seems like the gun is really working the gearbox hard.

Is the semi auto problem only with the mosfet? Did the previous owner just take off semi completely when adding the mosfet? And why won't the motor pull back and release a m100 with one trigger pull? New motor?

Thanks for any help in advance.

This happened to all of my "unbeatabru qualty" Tm G3's haha

Scrap the motor, rewire if you haven't. JG blue and mosfet it and you should be ok.

Just be VERY careful with the selector switch. The Tm strips out VERY easily, and you will have to buy the part. For me, no one sells a grey replacement. SO, be very careful.

HOWEVER, since your motor is aftermarket, I would suggest that, again, the motor is bad, or it sounds like your gears are a bit off on shimming. I would look at that.

Echigoya can order TM replacement parts, including the g3 selector plate and pieces.

If its an aftermarket trigger trolley / plunger, it might not be contacting the trigger reset correctly off the sector gear. Shimming too high from the bottom on the sector can also cause full auto-only problems.

The TM eg700 motor in the G3 is a pretty decent motor, though you can of course upgrade if you want higher rof. Also, doing high ROF with a low spring like that, you're going to get PE and shred your piston in no time.

And you know, A good point I thought of.. maybe clean the area around the selector plate, and check for damage on the cutoff lever?
*Does it run without the Mosfet?

Nukes right about pre-engage. Just check for AOE, fix it, then you will be good.

Thanks for the speedy responses guys.

I was hoping it wasn't the motor but I have a feeling it is.
The trigger shuttle isn't aftermarket to my knowledge and the selector doesn't look damaged.
I had forgotten about the cut off lever and making sure I didn't shim the sector gear too high, that could be it. I will take a look at that when I open it up again. I think the trigger contacts are working fine but I'll clean those as well.

I am just starting out on teching and I shim with the pinon to bevel gear method but the two guns I shimmed so far the pinon gear seems to push down on one side of the bevel gear when I have it in the other half of the shell. Like the bevel gear is being pushed up to high and pushing against the pinon gear and one side of the bevel is raised slightly. I even tried to place the pinon and bevel gear with no shims under the bevel gear to get is as low as possible and it still seems like there is too much pressure.

Would this cause a half pull of the spring? and I put the lighter spring in because I was worried about fps more than rof because vanguards 330 fps restriction. The aoe has already been adjusted as well.
