WOW... looks like Leftfordead is a real AEG expert.  Of course with a birthdate of 01 Dec 1905 I guess he's been around a while and should know it all.

AND, what's your point?

I'm very familiar with the ICS products because I've been to their warehouse, bought plenty of prouducts from them, and taken their guns apart. I had a wholesale account with Specialized Distribution, who is the sole distributor for ICS products in the U.S.  You can call go to their websites (listed abouve in previous posts) and call them.

http://www.icsbb.com/order/e_detail.asp?CatalogID=39&ProductID=389 says right there that its a version 2 gearbox.

As stated in my previous thread, they went to version 3---this year.

Hate to tell you...but you're wrong. I know for a fact they both use version 2s. Marui is the ONLY company that uses version 3s in their guns. Niether Classic Army or ICS uses them(not sure 100% sure about CA). I too have taken them apart, and found NOTHING but version 2s. CA doesn't use a version 3 becuase they include version 2 reinforced gearboxes.

I would have to agree with Firehead.  All the info I can find (and granted, it isn't every CA gun) state that CA uses v 2 gear boxes.  I had the same impression with ICS from everything I've read about thiers.

then why the hell are you going to post a link, and tell me to "get the facts" when you provide something that DOES NOT prove a single thing to your point. Do you have a "version 3" ICS Mp5?

They don't appear to verify your claim on their website from what I've seen so far.  They do sell a V3 gearbox, but none of their guns state that they are V3.  Perhaps you can provide a link that states otherwise?  :)

He can't provide a link. Know why? becuase it doesn't happen. He has no proof. Its all hearsay unless he can PROVIDE a good source of information. He shut up right quick. LFD, do you know what a version 3 looks like?

Call specialized ditribution (the ics website is dated, I was suprised to see that they haven't updated the info). 1--626-281-0979...ask for Mike.

I'm suprised too.  That could be a very important difference between making a sale and not making a sale.  Misinformation causes problems.

But for supposedly being dated, they have their "latest" products on it.  :)

Show us a scan of the manual you got with the ICS MP5 showing the version 3 gear box.  Although it would be possible to put a version 3 in an MP5 it would also require changing the lower receiver to one that will work with that gear box since the motor on a version 3 is attached to the gear box and not installed seperately like a version two is inside the pistol grip.

Just because there is no hole in the back of the gear box does not make it a version 3.

I checked my MP5 mechbox again, and its definitley a V3, there is no opeinings in the mechox unlike the V2's. Just curious firehead, have you taken one of these apart? Do you own an ICS MP5?

I'll check on my AK, but on version 3s i dont the spring is visable at all from the outside. ICS Mp5s use a version 2 that doesnt have the hole in the back, becuase they don't have anything to screw in the back(like that buttstock screw on the M16/M4 variants(obvious stuff).

You beat me to it, John.

Let's not get into an argument here.  After all, it isn't that important!  Who has an MP5 anyways? :P
