It is a sad day for all of airsoft. Im not 100% sure it passed, but it seems that way.

It has not passed yet It was just passed to go before Senate. And this only limits it to LA as well.
-
plus we are in the green since none of us fire a bb that shoots more than a 16mm

Negative this is in regard to anything LESS than 16mm in size.
-
hmmm, misread that. welcoming retailers in california to AZ and elsewhere they might go
-
According to the current news, it appears that the CA govenor has just signed the SB 1315 bill into law and it covers LA COUNTY not just the CITY of LA... A SAD day for AS for sure :(
-
Well I don't know about you guys, but I feel safer already knowing that steps are being taken to get these toys off the streets.
-
It's always that one person who ruins it for everyone else, which i remember someone said this in the forums on another post like this, " Laws don't affect criminals, they affect people who actually care about law/good citizens." -sigh- people like us who use these "toys" for recreation rather than to abuse it. I guess its nice that people will have a safer feeling. But in my opinion, this is only going to make things worse.
-
Some people... Just saddens me

There's this thing called sarcasm.

fresnel you are a jack ass. you do know that that means airsoft guns right? read the bill before making stupid and just outright comments that can get you no respect on this forum.
He has a point though. if it comes to the point where they are willing to shoot someone, I don't think they will care about some prevention law.

Or you know maybe he was being sarcastic, I know its hard to express emotion in text but it came off as sarcasm to me.

RIP airsoft
-
Fresnel? Sarcastic? Never!
But today is a sad day for airsoft indeed....
-
That means the major port that all the good stuff comes in on falls in that area of jurisdiction... Don't know exactly what that means for import and export to places that are not California, but I hope things don't get more expensive...

Poe's Law: Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is impossible to create a parody of Fundamentalism that SOMEONE won't mistake for the real thing.

Well we have 30 other ports in California that are quite capable of handling imports such as this. Prices may go up due to costs in having to transport from one of the other (many) major ports we have there, including but not limited to (that can handle large quantity shipments);
Port of Hueneme in Ventura County just north
I know Santa Barbara can handle it.
If need be I'm sure they could even go through San Fransisco or Oakland Harbor and transport to wherever. I'm sure if this just handles LA County they won't move out of state, just out of the county to somewhere else, most likely Northern towards the 510 area.
-
Interestingly enough, none of the major retailers have (to my knowledge) taken any major steps thus far to safeguard or relocate their businesses should this law come to pass. They made an initial stink about the law, but now they've kind of gone hush hush.... Someone tell me if maybe I'm just missing something here, or if it really does seem a bit odd...
-
My eyes are now pinned on the large retailers located in LA such as Evike (i know i know, but i look at all of them) What do you guys think they will do? Using Evike as another example, they just moved to their current location.
-
Everyone needs to remember that our system is fucked someone may be trying to pass this bill but let's be real there is someone else that is against this bill that it effects their pocket book. If you really think about it all the airsoft/paintball fields that are out there and vendors extreme sports are big these days.
It's a business of entertainment and someone knows someone who knows someone. They had the same issue with paintball a year ago the bill never passed and life went on so crack open a beer and keep surfing

That's the problem though, this DID just pass. Signed into law earlier... well, yesterday now.

And unfortunately it wont just affect LA. I just hope it wont cause a ripple effect, poisoning other cities/counties/states to adopt a similar approach to airsoft.

This is my worry. I read in the last thread about this I believe Evike was moving to Washington, and AirsoftGI was moving to Texas or something? I may be wrong, however it is a good idea to move to other states that are more lenient on actual gun laws such as Texas because it's less likely that it won't effect those states.
-
Wish California would just finally break off and fall into the sea. Then AZ would have a port! :)
-
Time to learn how to swim in Arizona bay
-
For now this only affects LA county, but soon some the rest will follow for sure. The law maybe signed but who knows when it'll be in effect.
-
Will we still be able to import things form asia like parts or the guns we were allowed to import before?

Since we're in arizona nothing has changed.

This is why I don't live in California.

If by "this" you mean "their lawmakers are pants-on-head retarded" then I wholeheartedly agree.
