That man is probably the best example of how an officer should be... take charge straight out in front attitude. Always willing to lead men into battle and never willing to accept defeat or an excuse to abuse his power. Humble yet firm.

Met him, along with a few others at various events when I was in the 506th. I was awe struck when meeting them more than I have ever been with some stupid celebrity or athlete who has never done anything.

He donated the proceeds from his book, as well as events he would speak at, to various charities, kept nothing for himself. Life long commitment to others.
