Yes a real steel unit will work.  It might be a tade loose but some electrical tape wrapped under it should take up the slack.

Front sling swivel for M15
« Reply #1 on: November 25, 2003, 02:24:08 AM »
I was medaling with my m15 tonight and I ended up breaking part of my front sling swivel. I don't know the name of the part but it is the thing that has the swivel on it and has 4 flat projections that extend to the other side of the gun barrel *underneath the front sight, which the pins get hammered behind when attached. I was just wanted to know if I would have any problems using a real steel replacement for it. I'm pretty sure the barrel sizes are the same but I wasn't sure about the other measurements. Also due to this breakage I am more aware of how fragile my sling attachment is. Is there a particular swivel setup/ brand you guys would recommend (keeping in mind I use a tactical sling system)?
