Escort SCAR-L

Well it appears we are going to be seeing an Escort SCAR-L coming soon using CA's body.  I'm hoping the price will be inline with the MP-5, but we will see.

Maybe, kind of.

There are so many things ahead of it that while it's been prototyped to a degree, it won't be 'coming soon', in fact, not for a long, long while.

Furthermore, it won't be built for market for a year or maybe more, just on a custom basis, and custom Escort guns are very, very expensive.

This may seem like a really dumb question, but are the Escort guns set up to store gas internally? I love the idea of a blowback rifle, but I don't really like the idea of a HPA/CO2 rig. It just seems a little too much like paintball.

No, and for good reason.

I guess I should rephrase that...I just don't like the idea of hoses protruding from my gun.

Yes, and some people dont like an gun that sounds like a sewing machine. Personal preference.... Hey I myself am starting to make a move toward gas powered guns. I want to buy an escort VN M60 it will take some time. But, hey it will be kick ass.

I truly didn't intend to offend anybody, I was honestly just curious if the gun stored the gas internally... because that seemed to me to be a realistic and practical way of doing it. As far as the way AEGs sound, I couldn't agree more. I just like the simplicity of having everything required to fire the rifle stored in the rifle.

that'd be nice. but the gas refills would be a bigger bitch than having to charge a battery before a game. plus, it reminds me too much of the RAP4 paintball stuff. where the tank is in the buffer tube (M4 type model)

they're fun, and different, but i'm used to the AEG

As far as the Escort goes I dont think it has an internal res tank. Some gas models of older companies did, and could also be hooked up to external tanks. This was said to actualy help keep a more consistant pressure with every shot. The Escort is said to be completly different then the gas guns of the past, and better. The problem with running a gun that only had an internal tank, could only at best run three mags before running out of gas. Not the best thing in a fire fight.

That makes sense...what about storing gas in the mags like the maurzen MP5K? Is the cost of the mags the only disadvantage, or is there a performance downside too?

Have you heard the ROF on a Maruzen MP5k?  :)

Cooldown is the big disadvantage, and it's a big one.  If you pull off a full MP5 mag in one burst the mag practically freezes to your hand.  It would certainly be a problem with any mag more than 50 rounds or with a higher ROF gun.  Cost is a major factor as well.

Well you could always go to walmart and buy the pre-filled Co2 tanks.  I believe they are sold in an 88g size.  They're are like $10 to $20 for two of them.  Plus the limitations of Co2 would probably keep you from just squeezing the trigger, and hosing a general area.  Might make people take a little aim before hand. Also most paintball stores will fill Co2 tanks for a reasonable price.

Running an external gas setup is really not that hard.

Furthermore, with a quality regulator, there really are no limitations to CO2, at least not that you would encounter in normal play.
