TM RIS on ICS m4
« on: March 11, 2005, 11:36:54 AM »
ALRIGHT....so I am getting a smoking deal on a TM m4 RIS kit w/ battery box. But do you know if it will fit with minimal work with the ICS m4?

Heres the link so there is no confusion...
http://www.dentrinity.com/shop/release.htm

I have NO experience with the "mixing and matching" of gun parts in this way. In the link the RIS kit comes with the ring and barrel mounts but the one that I will be sent will not come with this. I am looking to replace my stock plastic barrel grips right now with this TM RIS, but just not sure if it will fit correctly, so I am looking for some help and/or suggestions.

ALSO...

I have been looking at two different PEQ battery box units for my M4, so far I am looking at the ICS w/ 9.6v 1700mAh BUT the G&P PEQ w/ 9.6v 3300mAh caught my eye too.

Here are the links:
http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ucts_id=78

http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... cts_id=797

Do any of you have of you have either of these and can give me a recommendation. Ofcourse the better battery caught my attention in the G&P unit BUT ive heard the PEQ unit itself is kinda cheap. Also, I could not tell in the descriptions if these had actual working lasers on them. THanks in advance.

Well, from what i have seen, the Marui should fit just fine on the ICS. But I dont understand, if you are worried about it, why not get the ICS RIS kit from the same place you want the PEQ from? Not to mention the ICS is cheaper, and WILL fit your gun.

You may have to dick around with getting the Marui unit to fit properly.  The outer barrel dimentions are not the same and you'll probably have to drill and tap holes for the mounting screws for the RIS.  I did a Marui RIS conversion for AZSarge on an after market barrel sometime back and it needed to be fitted.

Yea....firehead....the only reason I am thinking about getting the TM RIS over the ICS one on airsoftgi.com is because I can get the Marui RIS used for $50....and I am getting the ICS PEQ w/ 9.6v 1700mAh battery for $50 as well. But I think I might just pay the extra $30 or so, so I dont have to drill holes in my barrel....not comfortable with that type of external work yet......im still pretty new.....and like I said...the TM RIS wont come with the the barrel mounts anyway......hmmm

AND I wasnt sure if the it would be worth $30 more to get the G&p PEQ unit from airsoftgi.com for the extrar battery power.

Well you just answered your own question then.  If the Marui RIS doesen't come with the mounts it's pretty worthless.  Buy the complete unit and save yourself a headache.

I ran the Marui RIS on my old SR w/ no mounts (they didnt work w/ the STAR barrel).  I didnt have any problems at all. It just goes on like regular handgaurds. Rick

Yes it will go on, but it won't lock in place like a RIS is supposed to which makes it pretty worthless if you're going to mount an Aimpoint or something other type of optic on it.  Otherwise just put on a set of Railed handguards which are cheaper to begin with.

What I ended up doing is buying a Sebine rail sleeve that attached to the RIS and upper reciever.

The Aluminum barrel was too soft to hold the tap John did.  It kept stripping.

Its a bad idea to plan on upgrading before a game, even a small one. Kinda sucks when its the night before the game and your gun is in 20 pieces. Best to wait till afterwards. Ive been in this sitch myself a time or two, either way, good luck!

All I am doing is placing the RIS on.....and putting a QD silencer on it....not really too hard of an upgrade. It will be done by friday and good to go...but yea...I know what you mean....It would be different if it were internal stuff......
