Good find. I have been bounced around all over Canada Airsoft stores looking for one. classic Army, G&G, King Arms all make a Canadian version but only the lower is abs and it's smoke not clear. One guy on Canada Craigslist wanted 220.00 for this ICS used.

my concern is the ICS uses a split gearbox. Anyone know if Polarstar will fit in this? Thanks

not sure how close this is to a v2 gearbox but it might be worth it to find one of these on craigslist and pulling it apart and seeing if u can make it work at walmart they are 100 bucks but i bet u can find some kid who wants to upgrade to a better one and would sell his in a heartbeat for like 20 bucks dunno though

JDM,

Thanks for those suggestions. I did check out the Walmart one and it's not possible to even take apart. The Airsoft GI ones according to their tech wouldn't work either. However I did find a tutorial at bingo Airsoft that walks you through how to install a polarstar in an ICS split gearbox receiver so that's the way I'm going. Already on its way I'll post pics soon.

Well, here she is. I used an ICS split gearbox clear plastic body.

It required modifying the selector plate, the trigger, the safety lever, the magwell (to suit its new Madbull ultimate hopup), and fitting the polarstar itself. Then soldering the wiring harness of the hopup units tracer LED to the wiring harness of the polarstar and rewiring them to the front of the gun.

A lot more work than a generic polarstar setup, but I think if nothing else its a unique gun.

The madbull hopup unit ended up having feeding issues, the loading nozzle that mates to the magazine is not long enough to load reliably in the ICS body, so I switched back to the stock ICS hopup unit, and modified it to accept the LED mod to retain tracer capability.

The trigger modification was done to all my polarstars by Nukeduster. Incredible improvement. Its the lightest trigger pull I have ever seen.
