Title: need help
Post by: Cochise116 on August 14, 2005, 06:43:27 PM
I was in my backyard shooting a few mags today making sure every thing was in working order when on about the third mag it stopped shooting. I figured it was just the mag was empty but it was neary half full, so I tried another mag same thing did not shoot any BB's  What I mean is the BB's are not feeding into the gun. At least I think because I can hear the motor working but no BB's shoot when the trigger is pulled. I have tried all of my mags and non are feeding even the one that came with the gun. By the way the gun is the G&P WGC marine m4, if that helps any. Please I need help I am in no way an expert with AEG's. Also the gun is a little over two weeks old and has never been used in a Skirmish nor taken apart. Thanks in advance for any help!

Are your mags standards, mid, or highcaps? And how many do you have that fail to "feed" all at the same time?  If it is a mag issue and they are standards or mids, you can spray a small amount of silicone in the mag.  Use the loading tool to excersise the spring to ensure an even coat and see what happens.  If you do this your hop up will be effected untill you go through several mags.  Also are you making sure that your mag is correctly positioned? I know but the hardest problems can have the simpliest answers.  Because if it is not seating correctly the pin/lever that holds the bbs in the mag, will not be released to allow the bbs to enter the gun.

An easy way to see if your mag has a problem, load your mag as you normally do.  THen manually press back the holding lever.  You will either have a bunch of bbs all over the place (suggest doing that in a bag) or the spring will fail to push the bbs out.

I tried all of my mags and they all were not feeding, but when I try your test they all seem to function fine. Your probably right that it is a seating issue, Also after I remove the mag a couple BB's fall out as usual. Just making sure here but if it was a motor or gear box issue I would not be hearing the sound of the motor correct?

Hold you're gun upside down with no mag inside and look into the magwell.  If you dont see anything moving, you probably busted your tappet plate.  12 dollar part.  You gotta strip the gearbox down all the way to replace it, but its cheap.

Ah you beat me to it.  I was going to say either a nozzle problem or cracked tappet.  If it is broken, get the guarder V2 tappet plate, I've yet to hear or see anyone crack one.

Also, does it look like you might have a jam in the chamber?  Double check and make sure you don't have a BB jam in the barrel/hop up.  Otherwise, do you hear the piston snapping back and/or feel a burst of air coming out the barrel... if so, the tappet probably isn't broken.  If it was, the piston wouldn't even cock back.

Does the gearbox cycle all the way through and just not shoot? If this is the case, there could be a problem with the hop-up assembly. It happened on my friends gun, but in all likelihood it is a tappet issue.

A burst of air is coming out of the barrel when the trigger is pulled. And I have no way to clean/unjam it if it is infact jammed. WGC failed to put an Cleaning rod in the box, any suggestion on what I should use... If all else fails I'll just take it to JT.

I Highly Recommend taking it to JT either at the swap mart on 27th ave or on 35th and Northern, Ron or Nate Im sure will be willing to look at it, and as he So Highly recommended to me, DO NOT TAKE IT APART before taking it to him leave it entact!!!!!!  It will be easier for him to diagnose and fix. Spent most of this afternoon chatting with Ron at the swapmart location.

If it cycles all the way, and shoots a burst of air, I would check your hop up unit. There is a small spring that makes it bounce a little bit in the barrel, it could be that that needs to be replaced. Just check the hop up in general.
